Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kid-Sized! Kids need good quality technical gear just as much - if not more than - us adults, so I am always happy when I find kid sized gear worthy of use and abuse! This is a nice down jacket. It is pretty thin which is nice for less bulk and weight, yet my son wears it on big powder days and stays warm enough which means we can make it all the way to the last chair of the day. Haven't had the jacket long so not sure how durable it will be but hopefully it will last him until he outgrows it! Nice styling, nice fit for my tall, trim, athletic kid! I only downgraded it one star because it seems like pint-sized gear shouldn't cost as much as the adult versions do! Should be a little less expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy boy, happy mom! I bought this coat based on the reviews. It is very warm and light weight. My son loves it because it is not bulky like his other winter coats. We also love the color combination! Unfortunately, he has a small tear in the sleeve, and he's only had it 2 weeks. He is 8, so I am sure it was from somethings he did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great non bulky warm coat I bought this coat for my 8 yo who refused to wear anything puffy or bulky. I was shocked by how thin this coat was but it is extremely warm even on very cold days. I would highly recommend this coat and will definitely buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Winter Jacket Bought this for my 8 year old and it was perfect. It feels light enough to play outside in the cold but has the warmth of a thick jacket. Love the color too. Will buy again when he outgrows this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and lightweight! I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. He loves the colors. And, I love how easy it is to pack in his book bag. It is great for layering and is very warm.

How warm is this coat? Is this a jacket for a real Chicago winter, ie walking to school in 15 degree weather?

Asked by: Chimom
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Actually, this coat does not have a temperature rating. In fact, most coats do not have temperature ratings. This is for several reasons. Mainly, it's because warmth is a subjective thing, unique to each person. Not only that, but there are other factors that can affect a person's (jacket's) warmth: wind, humidity, activity level, what else your wearing, etc. However, there are still helpful hints you can use to guide you. Best bet will be to check the insulation. This jacket has ThermoBall. Independent clo testing by Kansas State University has shown that ThermoBall has warmth equivalent to 600 fill goose down, so it should keep your little one warm! Hope this helped you out.
