"The North Face Big Shot backpack is my GO TO bag for just about everything. My Big Shot has been crammed under a plane seat, and it still has sand from the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific in it. Timex could market this thing with "It keeps a licking and keeps on ticking!"
Not only is this an awesome weekend or travel pack, it stores just about anything you need for a 50 mile bike ride or a 5 minute walk to the beach. My laptop fits perfectly in the sleeve, and when I take it biking my hydration bladder fits just as easy and works great. The front over-lapping pockets stuff just about everything from gum to a bike repair kit, and I use the front daisy chain with a biner to attach the flip flops when I'm using it for a gym bag. I'm a taller guy and this pack fits my torso great. I rarely use the hip belt so it's awesome that it can tuck away real well. The sternum strap has this little whistle I sometimes use as a horn while bike riding. Everyone wants a "backpack" for multi-use and the Big Shot fits the bill. You for sure can load a bunch of books inside, or a couple water bottles and a lunch, and this thing stays comfortable all day. This is not a high schooler’s pack, but definitely a BMOC for the week and a tried and true partier on the weekend!"

this is such an amazing pack. i have used it on evrything from school to multi-day excursions in the mountains. i love the vertical zippers and it is super comfortable. it has all the features you need including most importantly, the rape whistle on the sternum strap
"Best backpack ever!" 05/24/12
this pack is super comfortable. i use it for everything from school to muli-day excursions in the mountains. the vertical pockets are amazing. it has all the features with the daisy chains, sleeping pad straps, ice axe loop, and what not. the ONLY thing i dont like about it is that the water bottle pockets are a little small for a nalgene. overall, it IS the best pack ever!
"THIS PACK ROCKS!!!!!!!!!" 05/24/12
I've had this pack for about two years and use it for everything from school to day hikes to weekend excursions. I love the vertical pockets in the front. It is extremely comfortable. mine is a little older and does not have any padding on the hip belt. I've seen them new in the store with padding. and always a plus, it has the rape whistle on the sternum strao
"The best backpack out there i use it every day and need something that wont break this is it." 03/29/12
so durable it just what i need
"Okay pack, but quality isn't there." 12/21/11
I owned a big shot for about 10 years prior to replacing it with the new version. In less than a year, the fabric on the backside is already fraying, the buckles have broken, and the straps are also fraying. It's sort of a low quality backpack. I mostly use it for school, but have taken it on day hikes and backcountry skiing.
"It always has my back" 11/28/11
This backpack is my wingman. Always there for me. Very comfortable and helps with my back problems. Offers superb support and guess what? Yep it is waterproof. I go to school at LSU and Louisiana weather sucks. Unpredictable. Keeps my $1500 macbook and however much $$ worth of books from wet. So far no complaints. Took a trip to europe and served as my backpack while touring. Look out. However there is a drawback. I had the SlingShot before this and the Big Shot is small in the capacity region. Fill the main compartment up and you have no room to squeeze anything in the front zippers. Hell just get the dang thing. You know you want it and your ass will look like a BIG SHOT while doing it.
"Great bag for hiking around campus or hills!" 11/21/11
This is a wonderful bag. I purchased it for my husband, who insisted that his old bag was just fine. Then I brought this puppy out and he was SHOCKED at how wonderful it was. Just like my other TNF bags, they really redistribute the weight and make it easier to carry around a heavy load. My husband is a PhD student, so he carries tons of books around - in addition to a computer. He has commented every day how much better his back and shoulders feel after a long day of trekking around campus. It also looks pretty smooth, if I must say so myself! Overall, this is a great bag with plenty of room that helps redistribute weight if you carry a lot of junk!
"Great bag that lasted me for 3 years and still going!" 09/06/11
I got one of these about 3 years ago. When I first purchased it I thought the back cushion mash’s material was a bit flimsy and thought it might break within a year. I am pleasantly surprised this bag actually survived 3 years of heavy usage. I uses it pretty much everyday carrying huge MBA textbooks around, and it lasted though a couple winter storms. So needless to say, I recommend it to anyone that’s thinking of purchasing a backpack.
"LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT" 08/04/11
Of course I love it....actually my 12 year old loved it, and someone who stole his loved it too :( That is why I have to buy this same exactly backpack the 2nd time around! You will love it too for the look, durability and everything else, you won't regret it!
"Amazing!" 04/18/11
I'm a Graduate student and I bought this pack to put all my big text books in for class(oh the sleeve on the inside for my laptop is great too), but I also LOVE to go hiking! This pack is AMAZING! I can fit both of my camelbak's in the side pockets and I can pack so much extra stuff that I will need on my hikes inside. If your a day hiker or you plan on going away for the weekend to a friends house this is the pack for you. I fit all my belongings inside of it for a weekend getaway! If your ready for those beautiful spring day hikes this is the pack for you!
"Awesome backpack and very durable." 04/17/11
I bought this backpack my freshman year of college in college after having my books and papers soaked during a rainstorm with a regular backpack. I am now using it to transport books and papers to school as a teacher and it has lasted 6 years. It is very comfortable and has a lot of room. I have used this for some various day hikes over the last few years and the waist strap is nice. I also like that I can tuck it in when I'm doing normal things. By far the best thing to me is the water-resistance, I just can't imagine having a backpack that I'd have to worry about getting wet. Mine is still going strong but I'd buy a new one in a second if need be. Great buy for me.
