This bag is great, it has a huge opening which makes it super easy to find your gear or clothes. The fabric is bomb proof, though it is not water proof, it will keep things dry in a rainstorm. The shoulder straps are great too. This bag is perfect for airline travel, car camping, or setting up base camp. I own several.
Bought this bag for a trip to alaska. Loved it. It sat in rain and mud and never got my gear dirty or wet. Zippers are super HD as is the material. Straps aren't the most comfortable bit it is only a duffel and not a true pack. I now take this on other trips. When I travel alone with my boy I pack our stuff in two separate duffles (also TNF) and then cram them inside the XL!!! Cuts down on bags I have to carry but more importantly it cuts costs if checking bags on the plane. This has already paid for the bag many times over. Bag straps down nice and toight. Looks pro. Buy it. Use it. Love it.
"This product is versatile, well made, and stylish! ;)"
I bought my North Face Base Camp Duffel to use for a variety of fun events in my life. I went back and forth on the sizes and decided on the medium. The dimensions are too big for a carry on, but it's a duffel. Just put less stuff in and BAM you have a smaller bag. I have also used it as a checked in bag and it worked beautifully. The straps are very comfortable and it really is well made. I've taken it on several trips now and it still looks brand spankin new and my clothes don't get that luggage smell. You won't regret this purchase!!
This duffle is really wonderful. I am able to use it as either an over the shoulder duffle, backpack duffle, or handles only duffle... with all the available options I'll never know which one to choose! I purchased the medium and it's really perfect for what I was looking for. I have the rolling thunder in a small so I wanted a bag that was bigger to use as checked luggage but not too big either, so this is perfect. All the seams and materials are incredibly durable and waterproof certainly helps since I frequently travel back and forth between Canada and Philadelphia, PA. I recomend this to anyone who travels frequently and/or someone who gets a little dirty from time to time due to camping, hiking, etc. I love this duffle and I know you will as well if you purchase it!
from Philadelphia, PA and Cambridge, Ontario
I picked up a large bag in yellow(of course yellow) for road tripping on my motorcycle. It fits perfectly across the back seat and across my two hard boxes. Tying this down is ridiculously easy as well, seeing as there are a million and one spots to do so that line this bag. I've never had this bag fall off my bike at high speeds, but I'm guessing if it did; it would survive the incident no problem and probably take out a car or two!As far space, I can fit everything I need for a few months in here(I'm a bit of a minimalist though), I almost have too much room!
"This is the best Duffel I have ever had."
I can tell this thing is gonna last a long time and its huge. What else can you ask for? Ha Ha Seriously though, great duffel, and I would totally recommend this to anyone from a Bad Ass Mo Fo to someone who just wants a cool bag.
I finally caved and bought the TNF base camp because:1. Every other duffel has been inferior in some way (but it cost less)2. It is actually a value if you don't have to keep buying new bags because they failSo now I have it and have experienced:1. No problems putting a 4 pc flyrod tube inside with my other stuff2. Material strong enough to laugh off attacks from studded wading shoes3. Stuffing it like a thanksgiving turkey and not having a seam fail in transit4. Using the straps which are actually ergo enough for hauling weight over a reasonable distanceJust wish I'd done it soonerCan't wait to shove my ski boots in there and hand it off to some airline when the snow flies.
Bottom line... Amazing bag! Bought this duffel (Large) for my NOLS India trip coming up. It literally swallows everything you dump into it. Durable straps and a high quality all around. I will be using this for every international trip I take from now on. If you travel a lot you can't find a better bag. Also, after getting the large I don't know why you'd ever need an XL unless your bringing everything including the kitchen sink... And maybe the fridge.
"If you live out of your car between adventures, get this."
We have three large size duffels and after totally abusing them in dirt, snow and ice they look practically new. Large size can easily fit ski gear-helmet,boots,avi pack, clothes or summer things like a small tent,2 fly rods, 2 compressed sleeping bags and hiking boots. Our labrador loves snoozing on the large size, so it doubles as a dog bed. Great for car camping or traveling. The backpack straps make it easy to carry. You can even carry one on your back, one on your front and still have an extra hand to walk the dog. Get one (or two) and you won't be disappointed!
