There are lighter big tents. There are cheaper big tents. There are almost no better big tents. TNF 2-meter is a fully flyed group expedition shelter with smokestack and multiple doors. Two people with practice are able to fully pitch the tent with rain fly in about seven minutes. One person can do it, in calm conditions on even ground, in under twenty minutes, though children may gather and laugh. This is the room you want for adventures longer than a month confined to one place. Great for Yaks or helicopters, not so much fun to carry yourself. The USDOD recommends at least 74 sf of space per person for durations longer than one week. I like about double that.
