Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for a mulit-function sport watch. Rugged, multi-featured watch. I've owned mine for 5 years, and it has been on 4 African safaris. Although it is large I wear it as an everyday watch. The crystal is showing some deep scratches, but the watch band and case are in great shape. It isn't the most intutive system of function buttons, so be prepared to invest a modest amount of time in learning how to operate it. The compass and barometer need to be recalibrated occassionally to maintain the best accuracy. Battery life is pretty good, depending on how frequently and long you use the functions. The alarm tone is a bit low, and if you are using it as a wake-up device it is easy to sleep through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YES YES YES GET IT GET IT GET IT!!! I bought this as a second altimeter for when I skydive, especially for when I am under canopy (the analogue altimaster is great but not accurate enough for canopy precision). I did a lot of research for what alti watch I wanted and this one won because of its specs and lots of secret goodies. Its actually quite easy to use, and I am very tech UNsavvy. I also have teeny tiny wrists and it still looks great on my arm (I wear it just as a watch a lot too) and I get a lot of compliments on it. I got the black on black because it would go with more than the yellow on black. Great alti watch, highly recommended!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good features and light. This watch is light, and I like the ability to replace its strap with ease. The reason for this purchase is because my old one's (non-Suunto) strap broke, and could not be replaced...the strap was "fused" to the body. I find Suunto's compass to be very accurate. Compass calibration is easy. The pressure dependent altimeter is relatively accurate. The stopwatch displays minutes & seconds & to one decimal place - sufficiently accurate. The buttons to operate the watchs' functions are responsive. My old watch function buttons are "sticky". Battery change seems easy (no special tools needed, only a coin). This is a smart looking watch, and should last the rigors of the outdoors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IT ROCKS!! Got this for a christmas present, and at first wasn't sure if I was going to like it, it seemed big and bulky. I quickly changed my mind after a day of wearing it, this isn't a timex, its more than I could ever imagine packed into a watch. It's very light, lighter than previous watched that I have owned that were half its size, but still retains toughness, and I am fairly rough on my gear. I would recommend this to anyone that wants an all around watch for hitting the mountains. Easy to set, even comes with this little laminated quick reference card, trust me theres alot of stuff you might need it for the first couple runs. THE BEST THING, it doesnt set off airport metal detectors, savi

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BIG watch - cool settings - draws a crowd - works great The watch is big. I know you may hear that it's big and think different things - but for real - the watch is BIG. As a woman with fairly small arms, this big pink watch face is definately drawing attention from people I've been around. Fortunately their response is usually something like Dude - that's a BIG watch - awesome! Which probably says something about the vocabulary of the people in my office. I had to really pay attention and read every page of the directions, but after about 10 minutes I completely understood how to navigate around the watch and change the settings at my leisure. I'm happy with it and although I have noticed the small battle waged between the altimeter and ba

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In my parting I leave you with these words, ...come on. I purchased The Vector for its Altimeter. Although I live in Florida I do a lot of backing at High altitudes. And I must say it performs better than a Sherpa setting the safety line on the first Everest Summit of the year! But one of the best features of the watch is its sleekly designed-Gigantic Face. Which feels like wearing nothing. I am amazed to how light this watch is. It has a durable plastic back which allows you to take off so you can change the battery when needed. The Temperature Indicator is accurate usually 5 degrees warmer than actual Temp. which isnt ideal. But when you take it off at night inside your tent its within 2 degrees! Another Big Feature is the Compass Very Sleek EAS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cool factor outweighs the bulkiness The most common criticism railed against the Suunto Vector watch is its size, but with the ability to tell you where you are going as well as how far above sea level you are lost, its well worth the extra size. This watch has so many functions that I've only discovered half of them, and comes with an owner's manual half the size of War and Peace. It's in several different languages too, so if you were hankering to learn Spanish, buying this watch may help you kill two birds with one stone. A great addition to the gear horde of any adventurer, this watch has a digital compass, altimeter and barometer, although I'm not sure how knowing the barometric pressure will help me find my way out of

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pluses outweigh Minuses The Suunto Vector is a watch that delivers what it promises - time, altitude, barometric pressure and electronic compass. On a recent two week backpacking trip, I found the watch useful and to work well - particularly the altimeter feature which literally adds a third dimension to one's map work. It must be noted, however, that the altimeter works through barometric pressure and so if while ascending a peak, the weather is going down the tube, the altimeter may project an elevation above your destination. The only drawback of note is the seconds hand of the watch. Because the watch circumference is segemented into thirty-six parts for compass purposes rather than sixty parts for se
