"I use the bicolor version of the Evolution Velocity rope for most of my climbs. It's a great size for almost anything you are going to hit up, light enough to pack for some distance, but still heavy duty enough to take a beating. I think it is a good value too because it can take 6 big falls. The Evolution Velocity is dynamic enough to absorb a lot of the energy of a fall, and I have not had the sheath loosen up at all. The bicolor is a really nice feature too because when you are belaying both the climber and belayer can easily see which end they need to clip into."

The Evolution Velocity 9.8mm Rope by Sterling has it all and is our most popular of the Evolution series. Just the right amount of stiffness, so your rope doesn't flop during critical clips and its silky smooth sheath withstands abrasion and slides effortlessly to reduce rope drag. This is the rope of choice for Chris Sharma and is what he uses for working the toughest routes.

"Perfect for Sport"  04/26/12

Hands down this is the rope for sport climbing. the 70m dry rope will get the job done on nearly every sport route out there no matter what the conditions are. Just the right stiffness for easy clips and light enough to not wear you down.

"Best Rope Ever"  04/23/12

This is our 3rd Sterling Evolution Velocity 9.8 and even better now that they offer the rasta-fied pattern. Who doesn't like to advertise that climbin and tokin go hand in hand. This rope is durable and if you get the 70m it lasts even longer since you can just keep cutting the ends until its too short.

"There's a reason everyone in my climbing posse owns this rope."  04/03/12

Starting last year multiple obnoxiously Neon Yellow ropes began to pop up in my friend's rope bags. It was like a fluorescent virus, once someone climbed on/belayed with/touched/looked at one of these beauties 3 days later they would proudly announce they had a new rope and unveil their own neon coloured rope of goodness. My only hesitation, was what colour to get, as to not get them confused with the 7 others that exist in our group (I went with Silver). Srsly tho, this rope is a beauty, easy to belay with in both a Gri and a Gri 2, catches well in an ATC despite being a 9.8, is light to clip with and has just the perfect amount of stiffness. Catch the neon disease, you won't regret it!!

"oh sterling, how do you do it."  03/24/12

Great rope. not much more to say. Buy long, the rope is extremely durable and the ends can be chopped when worn through. The 9.8 works really well with the older grigri. Haven't tried it with a 2 but Im sure it will feed wonderfully. A must buy for the avid sport climber.

"Great sport climbing rope"  02/22/12

I work at a gear shop that doesn't carry sterling ropes, but I pay full price for sterling. This rope, although a 9.8, and low Uiaa fall ratings of 6 fall, this rope makes you feel safe. If this is your only rope and all you do is sport climbing, then this rope is perfect. This should not be your rope of choice for sport climbing and top roping, a 10.2 sterling kosmos if you do both top roping and sport, a 10.4 sterling marathon if you do much more top roping than sport, and a 10.7 sterling marathon ultra if this is the only rope you see yourself buying in the next 5 years and you are going to be doing a lot of climbing.

"Awesome Rope"  12/26/11

I love this rope. Out of the few that I have used from BD to Petzl ropes outdoors, I got the chance to use a 60M the other day and it worked great. It was super smooth on belay and was decently light. The colors are sick as well! I loved it so much that I bought myself an 80M for Christmas - for those long multi-pitchers. The 80M is pretty heavy, but i mean....it is 80 meters long...Thats a LOT of rope. Get it! You wont regret it!

"Handles nicely, no kinks."  12/12/11

I only just got this rope recently so I can't speak for its durability. However, right away the smoothness of handling was apparent both while belaying and when clipping. It pretty much stays kink free all the time and was supple right away. No break in period was necessary. 9.8mm makes it nice and lightweight, yet still easy to catch falls with with my ATC.

"Awesome Rope!"  07/17/11

This rope is awesome-nice silky sheath, just the right amount of stiffness, and it looks cool! The only downside to it is that where the color change occurs seems a little prone to fraying because of how the new color is woven in..... No problems with it yet though.
