Rated 2 out of 5 by from bad headlamp / ok lantern Love snow peaks Hozuki lantern, but this headlamp falls short. You can see the bright cool white light in your peripheral vision while you are wearing it, which makes it hard to focus on/see anything else. This alone makes it unusable for me, but the color of the light is also very artificial (cool white) and uncomfortable for use as a lantern. Cold weather also stiffens up the silicone making it very hard to change from headlamp, to lantern mode. If you can get over the color of light, it works well as a compact lantern for a small space, but it fails as a headlamp. Great idea... needs more work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent soft small area light I have this, and purchased 3 more. It makes a nice bedside light in your tent. Also useful if you have go step outside in the night. You can adjust the silicon cover to be slightly more of a directed light if you wish, but it's strength is to light a smaller area around you very nicely. Unlike another poster I find the light very soft and definitely not as harsh as most lanterns or headlamps. I keep one in my day bag.
