Price, but worth it.I like to write postcards in my tent every night while camping. I started with a headlamp, but it was uncomfortable and the bright spot moved with my head. That was a little distracting.,,,,Then I bought a Black Diamond Apollo. It was a drastic improvement, but still had its problems. When I put the lantern on my sleeping pad, there would be no light shining directly down and the area just around the lantern (where I was writing) was comparatively dim. ,,,,What I needed was something which would shine light directly down. The Hozuki works like a charm! The candle mode works just fine, but that wasn't a selling point for me.

It's Awesome But Its A $90 LanternI love Snowpeak and usually I am satisfied with their product pricing, but $89.95 for a lantern?!? I am huge sucker so of course I bought it. Its a good looking lantern. I like that It has a hook so I can hang it inside my tent or on a low tree limb. The 3 different light settings are nice, but I can't get the candle flicker setting to work correctly to save my life. The silicone "lampshade" is very durable and it's easy to take apart and clean if you need to. I've had this for a year and I haven't had to replace the batteries yet so thats a plus. The last lantern I bought cost $34 and fell apart on its maiden voyage so maybe this is worth the extra money.

Soft Light but eats batteriesI've had this for about a year now. I use it travelling and also at home. The light it gives out is beautiful and soft. I use rechargeables as it eats batteries. Also, when changing the battery it tends to fall apart and the shade likes to detach itself. I think the best thing about this light is the three levels of light you can choose, and the silicon shade which gives a soft easy light that no other camplight has.

I can't believe it's an LEDAlthough there's just no replacing a propane/isobutane lantern, this is a fantastic option for situations where thats not desirable. It puts out a nice pleasing light that feels a lot more like a standard bulb at home or a candle than it does your typical camp lamp. It's great to have overhead while playing cards or just lounging around.
