Do wool baselayers get any better than this? i think not!! I love my ultra warm and snuggly smartwool baselayers... they keep you warm and smelling fresh through even the worst conditions.. and best of all, if by some chance you end up wet you'll still remain warm and confortable - YAY WOOL!! If you're contemplating a purchase, stop thinking and start clicking... seriously you will not be disappointed!!
"For the fool who has no smartwool" 09/12/11
You are missing out. This is the best baselayer on the market. It's warm, slimming, stretchy, and non-irritating. Best of all, it maintains warmth even if you get wet (as opposed to cotton blends).
"Been Down One Time, Been Down Two Times, Never Going Back Again!" 07/06/11
I've done the whole synthetic thing for years, and quit literally it STINKS! Haha, this midweight crew is perfectly comfortable and close enough to the skin for me. I know they are a little pricey, but I'm hoping it will be worth it. I'm usually a size 6-8 and the medium fits me great. Wool all the way!
"The best looking base layer out there" 05/29/11
I've been looking for a long sleeve base layer shirt for some time. I knew I really wanted this shirt but was hesitant because of the price. I tried on similar shirts in several other brands and they either were too big, too small in the arms, too short.. etc. I gave in and bought this shirt which is perfect in every way. It's nicely form fitting, stretchy and breathable. This shirt makes me really happy!
"I really like Smarwool!" 03/11/11
Yes, I'm a guy. The women's sizing fit me tighter than the mens stuff for some reason. I like my baselayers to be tight and formfitting. That said, Smarwool Bases are REALLY breathable, yet warm AND cool at the appropriate times. It sounds odd, but it's true. If it's hot, you stay cool and it wicks like a champ. If it's cold, it insulates while still breathing properly. Very weird, totally awesome! Another cool benefit is Smartwool doesn't retain odor.I don't think I could go back to synthetic unless it's some kind of silkweight for summertime...Also have some smartwool liner socks that RULE in the summertime, check those out too!
"Very warm, but itchy" 11/28/10
I wear Smartwool when it's cold outside, and that's the time of year when my skin is already itchy and dry, so having wool on just makes for a really itchy day. But, I'd rather be warm than not itch when it comes down to it, and this baselayer shirt is really really warm. I've tried making it an almost-baselayer...with another non-itchy base shirt on underneath it...and that seems to be a winning combination.
"soft, warm, slightly itchy neckline" 10/31/10
I've had mine for a while now and it still looks brand new--no pilling or snagging. It's warm and soft. Doesn't breathe quite as well as my patagonia wool of similar weight, but is still pretty good. Only complaint is that the neckline is slightly itchy--the rest feels great.
"If you can only buy one shirt buy this one!" 12/22/09
I'm 5'10, 135, broad shouldered and long armed. This shirt fits me perfectly. I love it. Its form fitting yet not too tight. It's not at all itchy and feels good against the skin. It's great by itself or layered. Just a great, great shirt.
