Wore these on most of my hikes last winter. Super toasty, I found even the microweight worn under uninsulated thin shell pants to be too warm on some days. Great in camp or kicking around the house after getting home, they feel luxurious and comfy instead of my synthetic long johns which feel ganky and reek after just one day of use. Best part is you can wear them for days at a time and no stink, still comfy, just a faint musky smell of damp wool. A little heavier than synthetics and a bit slower to dry out but I'll gladly trade that for all of the advantages.
These are great, super lightweight wool, so you can wear them any season. The wool doesn't seem to be as soft as the heavier weight smart wool items, but it still never itches or stinks.
