"Great product.... Thick and Comfortable" 01/13/12
I purchased these socks because my job requires me to be outside in the cold weather all day long and my old socks where not getting the job done. These socks are awesome.... they keep my feet warm even to warm at times but I would rather them be to warm then cold. They also did a great job of wicking moisture away from my feet to keep them dry all day long. A great sock for anyone that wants to spend a long day outside in below freezing temps.
"Warm sock, very cushy for the feet" 01/09/12
I bought these for my dad who was looking for a good quality wool sock. These were the heaviest socks shown to me and are good for what my dad was looking for. He said they are very soft and comfortable as well as warm.
"Poor quality for the price" 01/02/12
I was expecting a decent hiking sock, but after one wash and one hike, the elastic at the top of the sock is shot and now the socks will not stay up. Further, the fabric has pilled as well. On the positive side, my feet stayed warm on an all day hike in 20 degree weather. But there are much better hiking socks for the money.
"Hands Down Phenomenal Socks!" 12/26/11
A phenomenal pair of socks that keep your feet dry and comfortable during hikes and even a great pair of socks to hang out in after shoving snow all day. Great investment, defiantly worth the mulla!
"my favorite piece of mountaineering gear" 12/13/11
Oh how I love these socks. Thick and warm, ready to protect my feet from frostbite. Basically like a toasty merino sweater for your feet! I have climbed several cascade volcanoes, done a lot of snowshoeing and snowboarding in cold temps and so far have had no problems with cold feet. Did get a heinous blister on Mt. St. Helens, don't know if they socks could have prevented this. Probably more to do with plastic rental boots my feet are not accustomed to.
"if you're a size 12 (euro 45) buy a Large not XL" 11/22/11
I love these socks. Really good. Warm. Toasty. Thick.I am a size 12 shoe (45 euro). I bought an XL and I wish I had bought a L instead. Not the end of the world because I can layer them on top of my other size L smartwool socks in crazy cold weather. So yeah, awesome, but if you are a size 12 I suggest a Large. It's the in between size but definitely buy Large--especially if you ski!Either way, you'll love these socks! Smartwool does it again!
"Great socks!" 09/17/11
I wanted to try these after wearing the Smartwool steel toe boot and uniform socks for a few years. They're really well padded and comfortable, and don't develop any odors even after extended wearings. I'm on the high end of one of the size ranges and was concerned about the fit but I'd say follow the size chart, they'll fit fine and will stretch a bit if needed. Curiously, even though they're so padded and thick they fit fine in my line boots, my mountain boots, my fire boots, and my uniform boots for what that's worth. I plan to stock up on these for a lifetime supply in case they quit making 'em. While pricey these are really worth the cost. I highly recommend them.
"love these socks" 08/31/11
i'm female, shoe size 7.5 sometimes 8. i got the small ones. they're too big on me, but i love them anyway. i bring them along my backpacking trips to keep my toes toasty at night. i can't really fit these in any shoes i have, except one pair, but they're great for the winter if you're riding your bike in the snow or just walking to work.
"A solid and comfortable sock for year-round performance." 06/10/11
These things are great and of course, super comfortable! I usually bring 2 pair with me if I'm headed out for a weekend. One pair during the day, another at night for in the sleeping bag. They dry quickly, don't develop any funky odors (for me at least), and are of high quality.
