"Good by to blisters and callouses"  02/23/12

I wore these and also Heavy Cushion over a few days of my first backcountry trip in years. Not only did I not get blisters, but over 4 days my callouses from walking around town were starting to decline (and haven't really returned). Since I have invested in many more Smartwool products and not looked back. I prefer a tighter sock so with a size 13 shoe I use Large sized socks and they work great, no liner.

"Great Sock!"  02/16/12

I've owned both natural and synthetic fiber based socks. My backpacking trips typically are 5-7 day loop trips with 14er day climbs mixed in. They are long days with agressive scrambling in hiking boots on the 14ers (I really ought to take the standard routes up) or more tradition backpacking style hiking days on the others...usually around 9-12 miles. I typically wear them for 3-4 days until they are crusty before switching to clean pair. I have never gotten blisters and these socks do a great job of protecting the feet and wicking away the moisture. Excellent durablilty, the only problem is the odor doesn't come out after my trips...but every hiking sock I own has that problem.

"You need one in every color"  01/01/12

If you've never bought a pair of smartwool socks before, you simply must. Your feet will be so happy! This is really the only sock you'll ever need, one in each color that is. They are comfortable, last forever, and they wash up great. I usually order up a size in smartwool socks, as they do seem to shrink a bit.

"Great socks."  12/27/11

The socks keep your feet warm and dry in the cold, wet weather. They aren't scratchy like other wool socks. They maintain their shape throughout the day and don't ride down in your boots. Overall, they are great socks... I have no complaints.

"Definitely Warmer than The Light Version!"  12/19/11

This sock has a great breathable top and great padding sole. However, it is most definitely a warmer version than the light version of this sock. That's great for many outdoor activities, but if you tend to sweat while hiking or skiing, this sock may be a bit too heavy since although it's a warm sock, it lacks in its ability to wick sweat away from the skin.

"Warm and super cozy!"  12/19/11

Warm and extremely soft. If you are looking for a great sock but you sometimes get too warm from the real heavy socks, this is the right one for you.

"I loved my smartwool socks so much I purchased two pair for my oldest son who is 11."  11/04/11

I have owned several different brands of hiking socks over the years and had tried to stay away from wool and wool blends in the past. However, after buying my first pair and wearing them camping and hiking over the weekend I returned home and purchased a second pair. I am now buying these for the whole family. I really like the way they feel on my feet, they stay secure and in place. I hate those socks that you always are having to pull up because they are always sliding down in your boots. Secondly, these smartwool socks provide more cushion in the heel and arch then the other brands I own.

"Warm, comfortable, and great fitting!"  10/16/11

I have only owned off brand wool socks in the past, but recently I picked up a pair of these and I am sold, some may say in love. These socks felt great on my feet! They kept blisters at bay and were really warm even when wet. I washed these off in a mountain creek and put them on with some technical sandals and they kept me toasty and tried fairly quick. I also love how soft they are. On some days I did wear toe socks as a liner and this combination felt great and kept friction on the downhills to a low.Very happy with these socks!

"warm. comfortable. just plain wow"  08/29/11

I got three pairs of these socks because I was traveling to Sarajevo Bosnia in the wintertime. I walked miles every day, often in snow and these bad boys really kept me warm. I sometimes wore a thin liner sock, but I mostly just wore these. My feet were nice and toasty.I lived in southern Africa for a few years and because we didn't have any heat in the houses it was the same temperature inside as it was out. On average it was about 40 F with the coldest being 32 F. I was so cold, but my feet weren't. I've loaned them out several times to friends who were cold and they loved them.

"I will only buy smartwool socks"  08/07/11

This product is amazing. The natural fabrics keep moisture away from my feet. They dry amazingly fast and provide enough cushion for comfort on the trail. I've been so impressed with my 3 pairs of these socks that I will not hike in anything else. They are durable (I've had the same 3 pairs for hundreds and hundreds of miles).
