DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super light, super warm, super high-quality I bought this jacket for a week-long backpacking trip outside Vancouver during winter. It is incredibly light (so light I was worried it wouldn't be warm enough), but it was perfect. My friend bought a Patagonia down jacket and it was a little heavier, but mine was just as warm and a zillion dollars cheaper. Also I don't think the material feels cheap at all, it's very soft but held up beautifully during the camping trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and warm I bought this jacket for winter camping and it keeps you warm and toasty. I do wear this with a thin fleece jacket underneath for extra warmth. The hood is a plus for high wind areas. I can't wait to use this for shasta. It also picks small which is nice. Great price and great service. Moose jaw does it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from exactly what I was hoping. Got these from a recommendation from an expert on you tube comparing all the jackets. I orders four, for our back pack trip. Tried in Colorado in 9000 elevation snow on ground. Definitely need layers but happy with the fit. Looking forward to more adventures with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not impressed I bought this coat for an every day coat and when I got it the material seemed thin and poor quality. It was nice and lite and I'm sure warm I just didn't think it felt worth its money...I sent it right back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Warm And Comfy... Material Not Durable I purchased the Elite Dridown Hoody size medium in black. I decided to go with this brand over other brands I have had in the past; based on reviews and my boyfriend owning over 6 of their products that he loves. This jacket was cheaper as well. I am 5'7 120 lbs and the medium was comfy, I loved the thumbholes and it fit wonderful with a base layer underneath. Since Maine has had a mild winter I have not worn the jacket much. I wore it last weekend for the third time when temperatures hit -30. I was impressed on how warm the jacket was. I was getting ready to go outside when I noticed three- four rips near the middle by my stomach starting at the zipper. These rips are only about 1 1/2 inches long. I think they were from my skis that rubbed up on the jacket on accident. I am extremely disappointed that it was my third time wearing the jacket and now the down in coming out. Now it is not really wearable since the feathers are all coming out of it and once that happens it changes the warm/ function of the jacket. Upon contacting Sierra Designs Warranty service, they did not provide any help and said that their material was more prone to rips because it was ultra light and that is just how it is now. I would suggest buying the more expensive brands- Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear, Arc'Teryx. These are the brands I have had in the past and and these jackets have lasted 10+ years- so worth the extra money!
