"Honestly, it depends what you want to do." 06/14/11
To be honest, this is an important piece of safety equipment for certain kayakers. I own a sea kayak and regularly spend time a significant distance from shore. Sometimes one falls out and needs to get back in when one can't touch bottom or get to shore quickly. This is also a very useful tool when learning to roll. Then again, if you are looking for a paddle float, you probably already know what you use it for.
