"Great shovel - removable handle!"  02/04/12

After packing this shovel on a number of trips, I decided to remove the handle entirely. Now I just make a handle for it when I get to camp out of some appropriately sized wood, and save myself having to pack around the 2 ounces that the aluminum handle weighs. Great shape and design for the obvious digging of cat holes, also useful for a base when starting my fires / making tinder. Once you remove the handle you have a durable lightweight shovel head, and a 2 ounce aluminum toilet paper holder... in case a plastic bag doesn't protect your tp enough!

"Recommended!"  05/05/11

I used this to dig out the fire pit, and cover up the hot ashes before I head out. And of course, for burying the departed.

"Small and Light, but the locking mechanisim is a bit fiddly"  11/05/10

Trowel that does the job, small and light, throw it in the top of your pack and forget about it till nature calls.Only drawback is the locking mechanism, difficult to use under normal temps, frustrating to use when your fingers are cold on the side of a mountain.

"Keeping it"  06/16/10

Not the greatest/sturdiest shovel. Could definitely be improved. Handy though for day-trips since it has a built in toilet paper container. I take a sturdier shovel for longer trips.

"When you gotta go ....."  06/05/10

Locks solid when extended, with only a minor rattle. Both handle and end cap buttons are pretty stiff at first - you'll need strong fingers and nails. The handle compartment is a great idea for paper and hand wipes. The trowel blade is stiff and sharp, but without any worry that it might rip through your pack. Does its job well.

"Great concept, lightweight, fit and finish leave a bit to be desired"  04/26/10

Does what its designed to do. However, the finish had a run in it. Yes, while merely cosmetic, it tells you something about their quality system. Also, the buttons to release the handle and compartment cover are extremely hard to fully depress. I'm not sure if someone without skinny fingers could pull it off without assistance of a tool or stick.

"best name for a shovel ever!"  08/09/09

This is incredibly light - much better than the old foldable version from the army surplus! It folds up very compact and comes in a cute carrying bag. I did struggle a bit with pushing the button in to collapse it, so I stopped extending it all the way. I also like the storage compartment, but had the difficulty with opening that part. With those flaws in mind it's a bit pricey. I'd say to wait for a sale for this one.

"With a name like this, how can you go wrong"  06/20/09

Its mostly aluminum so its very light and strong, and the handle will hold a fair amount of TP. It also compacts down and come with a carry sack. If you need a trowel, this is the one to have.

"Please, get this for all of us."  05/12/09

There are four key features that make this product worth getting (in my opinion):1. Lightweight (2.6 oz)2. Packs small (the handle slides over the face of the trowel to half the pack size)3. Hollow handle (store hand sanitizer or some toilet paper)4. It keeps your excrement in the ground, not on the trail or in the water

"Compact, and does the job"  04/25/09

It's a little pricy, but the feature I love is how compact it is... oh yeah, it digs a nice hole.

"If a bear did it in the woods, he'd rather use the iPood."  07/30/08

Light and cmpact and easy to use. I love the compartment in the handle to hold small items like toinlet paper or roughage for those not so fresh feeling days. Tempted to send in a pic of the product in use for the Customer Action Shots but the rules of decorum probably would prohibit that. Still looking for the port to plug my iPod into.....
