How many pounds of buoyancy does this paddle float provide? The foam paddle floats can provide between 15 (e.g. NRS) and 20 (Sea to Summit) pounds of buoyancy.
Asked by: Average paddler
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately the manufacturer does not provide any buoyancy weight ratings on this item as it is not sold as a coast guard approved life saving device. With one end on the deck of a kayak, it depends on how it is rigged to a boat..and how the user is oriented relative to end of the paddle the paddle float is attached to...the closer the user is to the boat (and thus the further away from the paddle float), the less leverage there is on the paddle float..and the more "weight" the paddle float can take. Because this can change and the item is used in conjunction with a boat, there haven't been any tests done for just the paddle float itself. I apologize that we don't have any more information regarding this.
