I have been wearing these regularly for just over a year. There was no real break-in. Right out of the box I took them to Europe where I was walking all day every day for three weeks. No problems with blisters or soreness. They are built for a more narrow foot. So, if you like roomy shoes these are not it. The soles have stood up longer than I expected, given how well they grip and how often I wear them on pavement. The only down side is the lack of gusseting on the tongue. After a long day of walking they tend to slip towards the outside of the shoe, not so much a problem for comfort, but a bit of an annoyance. Style wise they look as good in the city as they do in the mountains.
I have had this show for a few months now and really love it. It was comfy right out of the box but it felt even better after a short break-in period. The Scarpa Zen is a well built and rugged approach shoe or everyday runabout hiker. I have worn the for the last few months on and off for work, play and hiking weekends. Sticky sole that laughs at water. Really durable sole, even more so than my Guide Tennies. The Tennies are more comfy everyday shoe and the Scarpa a little more technical, rugged, durable.
I used this shoe right out of the gate. I wore them for 9 hours of walking. i usually get sore feet, but about 1/2 way through I noticed a subtle but definite arch support. With no break in, I experienced no blisters. I have put about 40 miles on these shoes and my feet feel just as good at the end of the hikes (no pack, just trail cruising) as they did at the beginning. I wear a 10 1/2 in all other shoes I have and ordered a 45, the fit was perfect.
After using other hiking shoes, I have found the go to. After 9 hours of walking, my feet didn't hurt at all. My arch usually gives me problems. About 3/4's of the way up, I started noticing a subtle, yet definite, arch support on the shoe. I have put about 40 miles on this shoe and my feet have not bothered me. I have noticed some perspiration on the bottoms of my feet.. We had about 1/4" of snow on the ground over the holidays and the shoe didn't slip at all. I wear a size 10 1/2 in almost all shoe types. I ordered the 45 and the fit is great.

I bought this shoe about 3 hours ago, and I as I live in Zion National Park, UT I've already had a chance to try them out. Great shoe: grips our red rock well, rigid for smaller footholds, and comfortable. Another (+); not made in China.
Very sturdy, nice-looking, comfortable shoes. Color is a little bit lighter grey than shown in the photo, but looks really good. Pretty heavy-duty sole and material but no break-in time required. I've worn them non-stop for a couple of months and they still look almost brand new. A little heavy for trail running but great for light hiking or casual wear. I get lots of compliments on them!
