I have used this several times over the last year. It seems to purify well, as I haven't gotten a case of the squirts while drinking with it. My main peeve is the fact the bags don't open well in puddled water, but seem to do well in flowing streams. I often need to pour water into them with a trashed water bottle. It is quick as you squeeze it, though I haven't tried to squeeze it to see when bag may burst. My bags are holding up fine. System dries well when returning home and is easy and fast to clean. Thinking of making an aquarium charcoal attachtment to get rid of leafy tastes. It is handy with bags so as to lay in camp instead of going to creek for water all the time.
I have had this system for about a year and have found it very easy to use. I haven't gotten the squirts from any water I have drank from it, so apparently it works! My main peeve is the bags caving in when dipping them in a hole of water, tho they seem to work ok when using in a flowing stream. Purification is as fast as user squeezes bag so to speak. So far, I haven't had any bags bust.....but I haven't tried either.
For the weight and functionality, you can't beat sawyer squeeze. I see more and more people using them out on the trail. 1 million gallon guarantee! No filters to change or mess with. They had an issue with reliability of the bags but have apparently redesigned them. I had the old bags and they failed on me after a few hikes. I just bought a Evernew water bladder for replacement. Even after bag failure I can still whole heartedly recommend Sawyer Squeeze. So small, so light, so cheap, so simple, so functional,so much better, so buy it already!
