Moosejaw Staff Pick "You can't even make it a day without good footwear. That's why my favorite item purchased when I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail was far and away a pair of Solomon XA PRO 3D shoes. During the about 700 miles they lasted, the mid-sole protected like a hiking boot, and the shoe, well, it wore like a comfortable tennis shoe. The XA Pro 3Ds are light, tough, and durable (other than the speed laces), and the contra grip was sticky on all the different trail terrains I hiked." Gerald - Moosejaw Secret Headquarters
The Salomon Men's XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 Shoe is light, durable and stable on the most demanding trails, and features a streamlined profile and improved durability thanks to a new outsole geometry.

Great trail shoes. Hiking, running, walking, camping. Great. A little on the heavy side but I love the pull-lace closure system. Never have an untied lace again. Feel sturdy and so far have held up very well. Would buy again, but probably won't need to for a very long time. And they don't look ridiculous like some other trail shoes.
Great for hiking, walking trails, inclines, camping, dirt, sand, wet, wherever. I also really like the pull-lace system. You just pull it tight and it stays snug. No untied laces ever again. They also look a little more stylish than big, bulky boots. I suppose some people would even wear these as every day shoes. I always wear 11 and these fit true to size. Would recommend to anyone.
This is my second pair of this shoe and I love them. I do a lot of trail running and they are good for running through mud and puddles, I actually did the Tough Mudder with my first pair and they help up great and didn't get water logged, they actually survived.
These shoes fit great. The Salomon lacing system allows you to pull the shoes to fit your feet perfectly and do not stretch as much as laces whiles running hard down trails. The laces and shoes are extremely durable and have held up to much pounding and scrapes. These shoes also keep your feet warmer than most other trail shoes I've owned (many!). For this reason, I primarily use them for running trails in the winter. The tread pattern also works well in slippery conditions.
I have narrow feet, so naturally I gravitated towards these shoes given the reviews about their narrowness. But these puppies are skinnier than a than an ant's knitting needle. They look funny....like I'm rockin two blue bananas on my feet. Don't recommend.
Salomon footwear is super high quality and very comfortable. I bought to my actual size and had no fitment issues. The "lacing" system is very convenient, secure and reliable. I do not find myself having to re-tighten them throughout the day.I have gotten many compliments of these. Of course that makes me wonder if I am just so ugly that people prefer to look at my shoes...If you are shopping for these BUY THEM.
"Incredible comfort and stability, wear out a little quick for the price"
I am on my 3rd pair of these in the past 18 months. Originally bought them for hiking but they were so comfortable and just all around awesome that I ended up wearing them everywhere. First pair definitely lasted the longest as I had them in rotation with a bunch of other kicks, second and third have gone faster than I would like as I just find myself trying to psyche myself up to wear other shoes. Caveat, I do wear these to work - on a concrete floor in a restaurant where a slow night feels like you are drowning in a volcano - so not exactly what they are designed for. Will probably suck it up and buy a 4th pair soon.
"These are the only shoes to wear for adventure racing. They take the abuse and come back for more."
Look around at the feet of adventure racers, most of them will have these on their feet. From the tops of mountains to the bottom of swamps, these shoes will get you there and back. A little washing in the sink and they are ready for the next adventure.
"Comfortable shoes, but I wore holes in them after two months of casual hiking and dog-walking."
I purchased these shoes because I was looking for a long-lasting pair of shoes that also were comfortable and supportive as I have a previously injured ankle. I used them for approximately two months walking or hiking with my dog daily, anywhere from 1-7 miles or so. I was saddened when I found two half-dollar sized holes in the interior lining of both the left and right shoe. I went to my local Moosejaw shop and turned them in for warranty, but it has been about a month now with no word. These were great shoes...when I got to wear them. Unfortunately, I paid good money for them to sit on a shelf somewhere waiting to be returned or exchanged.
Nice light shoe with good traction. Good for mixed terrain, but I have questions about the durability of the uppers. In the few months I have had these (granted I've put some miles on them) the uppers have already frayed heavily in places from trail abrasion. I also am not sold on the lacing system--every stop I find it necessary to tighten them down again. The sole and rand are good and solid though, but I am afraid the upper part of the shoe will not last a full year of use (abuse).
