The Quad Headlamp by Princeton Tec. At a mere 96 grams, the Quad is the lightest in Princeton Tec Headlamp line of regulated-LED headlamps. 4 Ultrabright LEDs power through the darkest conditions. The Princeton Tec LEDs are safe forever inside a tough waterproof housing that will survive severe impacts and water submersions up to 1 meter. The wide beam of the Quad is perfect for tasks around camp and is bright enough for technical scrambles and brisk runs on dark trails. Weight conscious users will love the Princeton Tec Quad's sophisticated circuitry that allows the use of lithium AAA batteries. Princeton Tec reduced the Quad's weight to 82 grams, perform in extremely cold temperatures, and significantly increase regulated burn times on all modes. Equipped with regulated LEDs that maintain constant brightness and a battery power meter, this light just may be smarter than you are.

"Great Lamp" 03/30/11
I have used this backpacking and in some caves at Mammoth Cave NP. It is very bright and the multiple settings let me conserve the battery life to keep it brighter longer. I thought at first that I would have no use for the waterproof housing but after being stuck in the rain its good to know it can handle nasty weather if needed. It is a great value and a great overall lamp to start out with.
"Hiked the AT with this guy ..." 12/18/10
I like to night-hike. Beforehand, I was using a bargain Energizer headlamp ($12 at Walmart + batteries), but I also have experience with more formidable headlamp makes such as the Petzl Tika and eLite. For my money (or yours), I would go with the Tec. It's comfortable, extremely bright at the highest setting (never had a problem seeing everything and anything in the Woods within 50 ft.), and at the lowest, you can get 50 hours of use from one charge on the batteries. Since this uses three AAA's (as do most headlamps - even the so-called "light" ones), it's not actually the lightest option, but AAA's are easy to find in any town on any Trail, so it makes up for the weight via convenience.
"Find your way through the black hole with this thing!" 10/30/10
Got this as a gift a few months ago, and whenever I go camping, this light doesnt leave my head! Its easy to use and like I said, it really lights up the night. I highly recommend it!
"fine for most things" 09/05/10
not so good if you hate replacing batteries constantly. mine seemed to gobble batteries at an insane rate. i like that its waterproof, that was about all. i pretty much put this on the shelf and kept using my old petzl zipka
"It works, but misleading reviews." 07/29/10
So I got this light because all the other reviewers were talking about how great it was, its rated high and I figured this was fine. And it is, but its just that.... adequate.you get what you pay for. It's a light so of course its bright but if your looking for an amazing light your gunna have to drop some cash.all that being said, I'm happy with it. The range of the light isn't what I'd hoped for but I also bought a cheaper light.
"great , easy to use product, a lot brighter than I thought it would be, simple to use" 04/01/10
This is a great little light. It is simple to use and a lot brighter than I expected. You could easily walk down a clear trail at night with it. It is bright enough to keep on the low setting and use around campsite. It is all you'll need for backpacking, car camping, and setting up camp.
"All the light you need" 11/03/09
This thing gives off plenty of light. Hiking through the pitch black woods at night it lights up a wide area.My one negative is that the light doesn't focus into a spot light when you want to look at a specific thing. Ive come to the conclusion that I need a single bulb lamp in order to focus on something far away. If you just want a bright headlamp to light an area this is a great lamp. I just wish it had a spotlight function like my old headlamp.
"This headlamp will light up your cave experience or even your life! Order it!" 07/25/08
Ok, so here goes. When I opened the box, I ripped open the package so immediately put on the head lamp! I had to try it out ASAP! Than for the next couple of days I may have worn it to work and around the house to show it off! On top of all that, I did actually use it when I went caving in a Shirley Mountain cave that was dark as I'll get out without a handy dandy headlamp! Especially one like this! The price was hella good because I actually planned on spending about 40! So it worked out great plus I got points! I do enjoy the shipping and handling because of the SWAK! Thats hilarious! I may also wear the tatts!! Thanks for such a kickass product! I enjoy knowing where I got it!
"Big Fan!" 07/22/08
Bought this after chipping a tooth trying to hold a flashlight while putting up a tent...kinda wish I had invested in this one prior to the dentist's bill. It's great for the close range stuff, really bright. For seeing things at a distance you'll still need a good old flashlight.
"Great for backpackers." 06/28/08
A friend recommended the head lamp for our back pack trip vs. a flashlight. These are great so you can keep your hands free to pee. 3 settings for your needs. Comfortable on the head, easy on the eyes. Can be used for other activities.....
