The Primus Classic Trail Stove is a small backpacking stove for saving space and cost. The Classic Trail is small and sturdy, ready to deliver the power to boil water in 3 minutes. The pot support doubles as a windscreen, protecting the flame against windy days in the backcountry. A nylon bag is included to protect the stove, so all you need to do is grab a canister of fuel on your way to the trail and you're set. The small size is ready for quick overnighters to long treks. Fast and simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better and Cheaper than a Pocket Rocket Cooks better than an MSR Pocket Rocket, isn't much heavier or bulky. A little extra weight is good for you! I originally bought this to keep in a bag with my slackline for hot drinks after dark. Soon after, I began robbing it from that to take on overnighters when I was too lazy to want to deal with white gas. This thing has converted me, it's easy to control the flame, very simple (only a couple pieces) and doesn't have any additional downsides over a more expensive canister stove (no windscreen ability, really, the canisters are not reusable). This thing is coming with me on all my mild overnight or 3 day trips. Cheap and Effective!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick Boiler, Must Be Level This thing boils water in a jiff. My wife and I have packed it to altitude (13K) and it still boiled water in around 5 minutes. I've used it with my GSI Bugaboo Backpacker cookware and coupled with the grip on those pans it is very stable if you can find a good level area in which to set it. If you don't have something grippy on your pans though it'll be trouble. I've dumped my tea kettle about three times.,,,,Cooked substantive food well, quickly, and evenly as well. It's fairly light (nothing like some of the alternate fuel stoves) but a bit bulky.,,,,Great stove for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best stove for your dollar The majority of people who use this stove will fulfill the cooking needs for them. The stove is fine for 3 season use and it continues to work years later. The fact that it only has 2 parts and 90%+ percent of the materials is steel means it will last for years. The only cons are that it needs a flat place to set up and cook, and even the slightest hill means your cooking and your pot is sideways, which means more possible food spills. You can buy a quick Remote Canister Converter for 20$ and it adds stability and reliability in cold weather and it still is cheaper then most stoves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable & Great Value used this stove for a 3 night trip to the backcountry of Cumberland Island. Very efficient use of fuel and 2 cup boil in under 5 minutes (depending on wind - I've used exclusively without a windscreen). good flame control and pretty stable as pot stand. it isn't the lightest stove, nor is it the most compact... but it is simple and sturdy. note: on most recent trip, stove struggled to remain lit as high winds gusted around... may need to start carrying a windscreen. VERY HAPPY with the value and performance of this stove!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dependable and durable stove. I have used this model Primus stove for years. Just received new ones to replace older ones in various camping kits. Happily the stove looks and performs the same as always. New stoves came with a metal warning tag that inhibits operation of the flame adjustment valve, so most folks will want to remove it. However, tag includes a dire warning that ANSI compliance will be lost if the tag is removed. Don't know why this new harsh warning on such a proven product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great casual use stove This is the nicest little stove for a quick overnighter. Usually I tend to overkill on gear for personal use but this stove is a great performing stove even thought it's inexpensive. Good control of flame and reasonably stable. It uses all the major fuel cans and Primus makes a half can that's good for overnight, or as a backup if you're going more than solo, or going with a partial can and don't want to run out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super bargain Got this stove as a backup to our Jetboil Flash. It has an very simple and rugged design. I've seen smaller and lighter stoves but I question their durability compared to this unit. The burner is HUGE compared to most and has tons of that nice blue flame we love. The flame adjuster knob works easily and precisely compared to the fiddly wire-types on most stoves. I am very impressed with the low flame control (perfect for simmering and actually cooking). On a high setting, the flame easily covers a larger pot or pan. I came up with a good mod using a dollar store tin foil pie plate (5" diameter). Just punched a hole in the center and put it between the burner and flame adjuster knob (concave side up). It reflects all the heat up to the pot and away from the gas canister and provides wind protection. It seems to have increased the fuel economy as well and of course I just fold it up when not in use. Not as fast boiling or as efficient as the Jetboil, but better at cooking/simmering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Efficient and cheap Much cheaper than a lot of stoves on the market (which is why I bought it). Boils water in a good amount of time. Just be careful that you don't bump it while in use... I made a mess because there's not much keeping the pot in place.
