I have been looking for a good pair of hiking pants for years, that didn't fit like a trash bag. Then I found these pants and I love them. I tried them on at another popular outdoor retailer but found them for like $20 cheaper on this website. I got these pants for hiking and outdoors, but they are stylish enough to wear around town. I am 5'10 in and surprisingly the regular length fits perfect. Prana got it right with these pants and they make my butt look good. I got the gravel color and I love them will be getting black as well. Zips off as a Capri and hits just below the knee. They seem like a very durable material and fit pretty comfortably, granted I got a size up because on top of the button and zipper they also have a drawstring inside. Which is great because I like to wear my pants a little low cut. I can't wait till it's a little warmer and I can get outside with these. I love them, if you are considering these, you should. I've tried on lots of hiking pants and these win.
Got these in the mail the other day and they are WONDERFUL. I haven't had the chance to field test them yet, but they fit well right off the bat and couldn't be more comfortable. As some other reviews have stated (both here and on REI), these pants do run both large and long. I'm 6'1" with a little more "in the trunk" than average, and usually am between a size 14 and 16 with a 35-36" inseam, and a 14 long fit perfectly. The rise is high enough that I don't feel like my bum is constantly falling out, but not so high that I feel like I'm wearing granny pants. (no offense to the hip grannies out there!)The khaki color is gorgeous, and the material is perfectly stretchy. As others have said, these are the best combination of technical and trendy so I could wear them on the trail backpacking, as comfy travel clothes, or even out shopping and never feel out of place or uncomfortable. Also: My thanks to Moosejaw for a good price and fast shipping!
Alright, so I bought these pants about a week and a half ago and couldn't wait to wear them. They had stellar reviews on this site and on REI (bought them at moosejaw because they're delightfully sarcastic about everything... and they had the long length), and they lived up to my wildest expectations!I agree with some of the reviews around stating that these run long and large. I bought them a size small so I could lose some weight and fit into them for an Appalachian Trail section in June, but when I tried them on they magically fit AND were long enough. Now, just to preface the magic in that sentence: I'm 6'1" tall and have a rather large booty. They're very flattering and stretchy, and have a high enough rise that my backside doesn't feel like its always falling out. Great fit, great material, and a great price. My only gripe would be that the zip-off legs do fall at an awkward length, right at my knee, but that may just be because my legs are freakishly long.
For all you guys out there reading this review, you can pick something out for your woman with success. I bought these for my wife and she loves them. I followed the reviews and went one size down from what she really is. She freaked when I told her I got her some new hiking pants. She needed to try them on first, they have to fit well, blah, blah, blah. I told her if she doesn't like them that Moosejaw has awesome return policy. But, when they came in mail, BAM! Fit her like a glove. She loves them. These pants stretch really well when you sit or squat and breath well too. I have the men's pair and am getting ready to order another pair. Length is a smidge long but I would rather have them too long than not long enough. U won't be disappointed.
I love, love, love these pants. They are very comfortable and the stretch is awesome. I love these so much that I own two pairs. I mostly wear them hiking but have also worn them around town as they are not only very functional outdoor wear, but very cute and fashionable as well. The drawstring at the waste is very useful. I would highly recommend these pants. I normally wear a size 4 and these were true to size. They also make these in mens so I bought one for my man and he loved them the minute he tried them on.
i just got them. love them. the fabric is really soft and convertible zipper is not itching my legs either. i got the short pair and size 2, but a little big for me. length is great. they are light, soft, and has UV protection.
"Loved but had to exchange for a different pair"
I got these pants because my two sisters and mom had them and absolutely LOVED them. They are not only comfortable and great for outdoors, but they are also really cute. It's not very often that you can find quality outdoor pants that actually make your butt look good (and we all have very different shaped bodies). We wear them for hiking and climbing, and then go out to the bars or wherever and even get compliments. While the rest of the pants are going strong, my pair unfortunately had a spot on the thigh where the fabric sort of fell apart a little (which affected my rating). Huge bummer. I think I just got a lemon. Anyway, Prana completely backs up their products and was really great about exchanging them. I have a new pair on the way. So, in conclusion, they are awesome and all brands will have quality issues here and there but it's how they handle it that matters. And Prana was great. Highly recommend them!
"Don't know what you'll get into? It's ok: these pants can handle whatever!"
I did a lot of research on what pants to buy because I knew I had to purchase a pair online. These had great reviews on tons of sites except Moosejaw! So, I'm glad to offer a review here. 1) MJ (not the basketball player or late king of pop) let me do price match on these since I found my size & color on sale on another site but I wanted to support MJ (& get points). Thanks guys! Now the pants: I followed the size guide on Prana's site: I have a 30" low waist, 36" hips, & am 5'4" tall, bought a 4 regular & they fit great! They have a drawstring inside the waist to help secure the pants & I didn't find it bothersome whatsoever. The zipper also doesn't bother. The pants are fitted, not tight, in the thighs & tuckus & offer AMAZING stretch. I've worn them once but put them through a gauntlet: hiking, rock & tree climbing, running & jumping through a field, yoga, swimming - WOW do these pants dry quickly & not soak up water! They're light & kept me cool on a very humid day. New favorite!
