Good basic trackerI've had this for almost 2 years and it's served me well. The basic Heart rate monitoring and calorie tracking work great, and the strap fits well. I did find it comes undone occasionally while running if I haven't been careful while putting it on, and it may need to put on one way up for best grip. I'm finding that it is developing a sharp spot on the plastic connector just recently.
My biggest dissappointment is in the WebSync - FT4 doesn't come with an uploading connector. Also, the free App you can get doesn't work on any of my Android devices. So I am stuck with the watch only, and no further info from uploading the data to my computer.

Only good for 2 years, at bestI received this a couple of years ago as a gift and it worked with only a few hiccups the first 1.5 years. Since then, it has been one problem after another. First, the buttons stopped working. After a few days, they started working again, except one (top right), and the action of each button changed. I could still manage to get my workout done until a few months ago when my heart rate randomly stopped registering for minutes at a time until it wouldn't register at all. I replaced the battery and now it only registers very intermittenly so I no longer have an accurate calorie count. Not happy at all, especially since I stayed with Polar over another brand.

Great, inexpensive, HR WatchIf you're looking for something to keep you informed of your progress in your exercise routine, this is really all you need. ,,,,Tracking up to 10 sessions worth of data, but also keeping a running total, the watch can tell you how long you worked out, your average heart rate, maximum reached, and time in the zone, and from that, how many calories you burned. It beeps softly at you every 5 seconds or so when you're under the zone, and also tells you when you've exceeded your maximum. The display is really easy to read, even in the middle of vigorous training session. The watch in comfortable and easy to clean, as is the chest strap, which is fully adjustable.

Basic AccuracyThis "watch" is designed to give you an accurate calorie burn count based on your info and your actual heart rate. It does just that. I have used the FT4 for 2+ years. I've changed the battery one time because I bought it on clearance at a local store. It clearly shows me my HR or if you want to see how many calories are burned, it will display that. Just scroll the buttons to see time, HR, calories, etc. Yes, it is BASIC, but that's what I wanted when I started getting fit. I'm probably going "trade up" to a more advanced model. But then again... Maybe not because I am so used to using this and hate to workout or run without it! Bottom line: it does what is says it will do.

Like others have written this is my second FT 4. Happy with the first one. The second has been problems after the first year or so. Changed batteries a couple of time. I hand wash it in the sink after every use and occasionally wash it in the machine tied up in a sock. The display jumps around. This the most consistent thing about it. I use it in town and out in the mountains when mountain biking. Don't think it is outside interference. Best place to use with gym equipment. Last one for me. as a matter of fact I am looking for something that serves my purpose. That works.

Still Using After 5 years!I am still in love with my Polar FT4 after 5 years! I've changed the batteries in the watch and the heart rate monitor strap about twice in this time period and it is still working great and looks like new! I use it during every workout, which is basically every day because I'm an athlete, and I definitely prefer it over my other daily activity monitor because it has the more accurate HR reading due to the chest strap! I also just love wearing the watch around because it is so cute and durable. Thank you Polar for such a great product!

Accurate but complaint about heart rate bandI was given this item as a gift, less than a year ago. I use it quite often, however the band has left me several different scars, located where the heart rate monitor band lies across my chest. I love the product, but I've been forced to use it less often as it leaves me a new cut if used every day. Also, the band has fastener that allows for shortening and lengthening itself based on your size- if you're small it is difficult to wear as even the most fastened option is too big for myself and tends to slowly fall during exercise. I do like the product and the quality. I've avidly used it for my workouts since I received it, but the band is my only complaint.
Is there perhaps another model you would recommend for me? Do you allow for trade ins if unhappy with a product?

Extremely Disappointed from
Used to Love it but now having problemsI bought my FT4 about 6 months ago. It worked great for about 3 months and then started giving false readings or no reading at all. thought it was the batteries so I changed them out. Worked great for about 2 months and then started to have the same problems. I use this daily, and the last 3 days I haven't been able to use :( ... I have now purchased new batteries again and am waiting for them to come in mail. If I change them this time and it continues I will probably throw this away and buy from another Brand.
