Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let it flow, let it flow... I used to use a camelbak, but when filled with just water it tasted like plastic no matter how many times I washed it. Enter the Platypus. No plastic taste whatsoever. The water tastes pure and I dig that. The bite valve is a little different than a camelbak, but I'm used to it now and even like it better. I only use water in it without ice, but with the small opening it might be hard to add a lot of ice. Also cleaning it isn't as easy as a camelbak because of the opening. I also wish the hang loop had a clip to use with all packs. Even with those little quibbles, I love this thing and will gladly buy another when this one is done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great system! I am an avid trail runner and because of that, I have tried many different hydration systems to find which works best for me. Platypus I found was the best yet, it feels thinner inside my pack and sits well against my back, I don't even know its there. You also do not have the annoying rubber taste that some hoses have, making the water taste much better. It is also very durable in its design, during races I have to quickly open and close the bladder to refill it multiple times during the race, and the wear and tear I have put on mine is quite significant, but it has held up better than any of my other bladders. I would highly recommend this product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a great reservoir at a competitive price. this is a great reservoir. i got a camelbak hydropak from goodwill for 75 cents, but it didn't come with a bladder so i started looking. i was looking for something that would be light and durable, but most of all, wouldn't taste like plastic. price also played a big part in the decision. after about a week of looking around, i landed on 1.8 ltr platypus they have so many size options - it's awesome!. it fit all of my criteria and it was the cheapest by 5 or 10 bucks. this was also my first moosejaw purchase, and i was thrilled. i will definitely order from these guys again, and the sticker they sent me is already being displayed on my car. the only issue with this reservoir is i'm n

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the few ladders that will fit in my Arc'teryx pack. I mainly use the Camlbak 70oz For my daily hiking needs. I bought this blatter because it was one of three that can go into the zippered bladder sleeve on the Arc'teryx Altra 65 pack. The main drawback to this bladder is that it has a very small opening for filling. They are made of a of very durable plastic that has not given me any problems with punctures and seems highly resistant to them. I prefer the eCamlbak Big Bite mouthpiece and after talking to the platypus rep I tried to change out the mouthpiece on the hose. In spite of what I was told by the rep these mouthpieces are not interchangeable whatsoever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hydration system, just don't over tighten Bought the 2L for a trip to Yosemite. Did the Half Dome hike and Mt Conness. Worked really well for the entire trip. Bought an extra cap to make it easier to change between my other Platypus bottles without having to re-thread the hose through make pack. One problem I did encounter was over tightening the hose did lead to a leak. Just had to test it before I put it back in make pack. ,,,,I have two other Platypus bottles and I can't imagine what i would ever replace them with. Did I mention that my buddies Camelbak ended up with a pin hole?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Minimalist Bladder I've had my Hoser for many years now and love its minimalist design, which also lends itself to being very versatile. I typically use my Hoser backpacking because it is very lightweight and, using an attachment Platy makes to hook a filter hose directly to the bladder, very convenient for one person to fill with a filter. Once at camp I pull this bladder from my pack and hang it from a tree to fill a Platy bottle for around camp and use it to dispense water for water for cooking, washing, etc. and it never lets me down. All in all a great quality product that is extremely versatile and lightweight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skeptic Before Use I was super skeptical of any of these hydration systems (no matter the brand). I was finally talked into my 3L system during my last backpack purchase. I'm pretty glad I pushed passed my skepticism. There is no added smell that I can gather (and I am a super taster, who used to be a raw food chef). The only thing I'm having a slight issue with - is the cleaning of the hose. Even just to run water through it without actually biting the valve seems troublesome. It could be that I'm not familiare enough and not gonna knock it yet. I'm also gonna get the cleaning kit once I can afford it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightest Bladder on the Market For starters this is the lightest 3.0L bladder you can buy. The durability seems to be good as well. The biggest downside to me is the bite valve. That thing is worthless as well as the lapel clip…. Pure crap. I replaced the bite valve with a camelback shutoff one. Oddly enough both bite valve setups weight 6 grams but you get the shutoff with the camelback. No brainer. The fill hole is a bit small and depending on your purification method this might pose a problem. With all that being said I like it. Plus I use it as my clean bag for the clean stream filter. No need for 2 bags.
