Rated 5 out of 5 by from Experience Changing Device The Platypus Gravityworks system is by and far the single best addition I have made to my backpack! On a recent hike we pumped water in the Grand Canyon for literally 25 minutes, non-stop, just for a few litres of water. The Platypus Gravityworks system turned that process into a 3 minute, no hassle cakewalk! We simply filled up the clearly marked "Dirty" reservoir, attached it the clearly marked "Clean" reservoir, hung it up and walked away to put together our campsite. Within three minutes we had 4 litres of potable water without doing really any work. This device literally made our entire hiking trip! I will never hike without it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blew Every other filter I have used out of the water..... This is the best Filter I have ever come across hands down! I lead adventure trips for youth all summer and this filter kept everyone's bottles full, was so easy even the never been hiking kids could use it, and it was durable enough to survive multiple trips with teenagers. It packs up small enough to tuck into a side pocket on a pack but carries a huge amount of water and filters so fast. the best part is you don't have to do anything to get the water other than find a source. you can just sit there and relax as tasty water is being prepared for you! if there is any product I will be shamelessly plugging this summer it is this for sure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic product. sure beats a hand pump when filling a lot of bottles. Love this product. Ease of use is so important when dealing with a wild bunch of Boy Scouts. All you need is a water source deep enough to plunge the "dirty" bag or a small waterfall to let the water take the plunge. Fill it up, raise it up, and let gravity do the rest. You can't make a wrong connection so no worries there either. Smaller hands may struggle closing the seal on the "dirty" bag but that is only important if you want to lay the bag down or put it in a pack to carry to camp. No more pumps for us - except when we know the only water source will be shallow, slow moving streams - places we can't just "dunk and lift".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best filter on the market!!! After years of using a hand pump water filter this was a breath of fresh air!! I bought this right before I took my fiance out on his first backpacking trip. Now I want to go buy a hand pump one just so he can pay his dues and suffer like the rest of us used to!! I cannot even believe how much time this saves! You just put the "dirty" bag in the running stream, attach it to the filter, and that is it. Liters of clean water without a single pump!! No more hand cramping or getting wet feet (because you are too lazy to put your boots in in the morning). I will agree that the seals on the bag can be difficult to close, but I will gladly battle with them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be easier I've used this a number of times, and I love how easy it is. Just fill it up, hang it up, and in 10 minutes you have a bulging pack of clean water. I usually camp with a group of about 4-8, and each fill usually covers all cooking, cleaning, brushing needs for the camp for about half a day. I also have a 2L Platypus hydration bladder, which attaches so you can filter straight into that before hikes. ,,My only complaint is the tiny black stopper piece which you're supposed to pop onto the filtering device when you detach the hose to prevent contamination is exceedingly easy to lose. I might fashion some way to attach it to everything else when I'm not using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, easy to use and is faster than the pumps I used. This product gets double thumbs up!,,My macho experienced hiking buddy thought I was nuts for buying this "Contraption," saying it would be slow to filter. It turned out Gravity is faster and better than hand pumping by far. ,,After filtering one bag, I usually keep the unfiltered bag full in case I need more water later for drinking or washing. It doubles as a water carrying bag too.,,The only disadvantage may be that the two bags and hose are a little bulky, but does roll up into a carrying bag.,,BTW, Macho buddy's pump crapped out on him after a three months use. He then bought a Platypus Gravityworks Filter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome buy! Great product! So worth it. Whether you backpack twice a year or go camping every other weekend, this product is worth it. We had always used a pump water filter, and it was a pain and took forever. Plus, it added a little more weight to our packs than preferred. I've always been a platypus fan, and their water reservoir has lasted me without any problems. I bought the gravity filter as a gift for my boyfriend, and we tried it out for the first time in the Smoky Mtns this past weekend. It filtered 4 liters in less than 3 min. It certainly lived up to the reviews. It's light, easy to use, and effective. After shopping around, Moosejaw had the best price as far as I saw. I would absolutely recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A filter and more This is my go to system. It's light weight, foolproof and can be modularized for your needs. For light weight use, omit the clean bladder and filter straight to your pack bladder. Refill the dirty bladder for filtering later. The zip closure is very handy for gathering water from small springs or other difficult sources. The handles make carrying much water much easier. I purchased the first generation zip style bladder many years ago and it is still going strong. It does it's job when I do mine. The clean bladder can be used as an emergency bladder should someone develop a leak in their system. This system can be easily adapted to work with reservoirs/bladders you already own.
