"Fantastic" 04/17/12
This is perhaps one of my favorite items in my pack! Because it filters so fast and is so convenient, it cuts down on the amount of water I carry. When I first start to set up camp I take my Platypus and scoop water. I set up while it filters. When I am done I hang the clean reservoir from a tree and use it like a faucet. Fantastic!
"You gotta have one of these!" 05/08/11
I've owned a pump filter for 15 years and then tried a Katydyn gravity system before using this one. I still have the old Pur Hiker pump but took the Katydyn back because of how slow it was. This filter is idiot proof! If you can keep the words Dirty and Clean sorted out then you've mastered this filter. I hate to carry a lot of water when I'm on the trail so this light easy to use filter makes my life great! I fill it up when I stop and hang it in a tree and by the time I get my stove set up and my bottles out its done filtering 4 liters of water. I highly reccomend this filter for any aplication!
"You should get this, mostly." 05/04/11
I love the whole idea of Platypus. They are sturdy and they do what they are supposed to do.This is a really easy system to use and what i love about it is that it is quick and efficient. They take up minimal room in your pack.My only beef about all Platypus products: it is challenging to get them to dry. The nature of the system is that they collapse in on themselves, and so there are parts that stick together and then you got the funk the next time you wanna use it. And not the kind of funk that you want.

"Never buy a pump filter again!!!!" 12/10/10
This is the best investment ever! When I was on the A.T. last year, our pump filter broke the first day. With so many moving parts, it's hard to trust a pump filter's reliability. I went with the new technology of the Platypus gravity feed system and I will never go back. You must get this filter if you need something reliable, but simple.
"Make sure you check the seal twice!" 05/27/10
I spent this past weekend in the Smokey Mountains walking 21+ miles with my brother. The Playtpus CleanStream Gravity Filter System worked great. Only one problem, the seal on the clean water bladder opened a couple of times. Suggestion, hang the clean bag lower than the dirty rather than simply laying it on the ground.
"Get this filter it is fantastic!" 05/11/10
We have used this filter system to do more than filter water. We used is as a holding tank, when there would be no water access at camp. We have also hung the clean reservoir on a tree in camp, and used it as a faucet. The list goes on...If you follow the following steps you shouldn't run into any issues, allowing you to maximize the life of your filter (about 1500 liters). Back flush the filter regularly, don't drop the filter from high up, and don't let the filter freeze. Cleaning / disinfecting the filter is a cinch. After you get back from a trip, you run two drops of bleach to one liter of water through the filter. I would purchase this filter again!
"If youre in the Mountains with no clean water you need this!" 12/10/09
This filter rocks! So easy to use and you have clean water in less thamn two mins! Theres nothing better than being able to take the water right out of the stream on a backpacking trip and run it throught this filter and have clean drinking water in mins! So refreshing and convienient!
"THE BESTEST WATER FILTER!" 11/21/09
It is super fast and easily maintainable (just lift the clean bag above the dirty bag to backflush). We would filter one bag (4-liters!) of water, fill up our bottles and camelbacks, then filter another bag of water (4-more liters!) to keep as water for cooking, cleaning, etc... at camp. All this filtered water, and we were still done before the others had pumped their bottles full.In addition to being a great filter, it also serves as a clean water reservoir. You can start & stop the water flow with the hose clamp. The only precaution - don't let it freeze! I keep the filter in the bag with me on cold nights, and I haven't had any problems.I whole heartedly recommend it!!
"Very quick & easy" 03/01/09
This is far easier to use than the pump filter I upgraded from. If you have a decent water source, it only takes a few seconds to fill the dirty bag the full 4 liters filters quicker than I could pump the old one. The best part is gravity does all the work! The great 4 liter capacity allows me fewer trips to the water source too. Usually I have to fill my water bottles both when getting to camp and then again the next morning on the way out. Now, I just fill the filter one time and it fills enough for both, saving more time & effort.
