This little light is perfect! I always have it on me when climbing or hiking/camping. It is perfect for emergency situations and so far so good for not waking up my friends in the tent. It is also made by Petzl... so would you expect anything less than amazing? Well worth the money!
It is as small and as light as a couple of AAA. For that weight you get a fully functional, waterproof headlamp, so there is really no reason not to bring e-lite along. I have done long and challenging night hikes with e-lite but I would not recommend it for day to day use. The pivoting mechanism is not going to hold up to extensive use and the batteries don't last that long. You can get a lot more light and also use from small AAA Petzl.

Where this headlamp really shines (har har) is it's size and simplicity. Many times I've reached for this instead of my full sized battery pack headlamp simply because I can strap it on in a matter of seconds. The light output dims in comparison (that's the last time, I swear) to full sized units, but for everyday uses where holding a flashlight isn't practical, this is very useful and of course, being a Petzl, the quality is great despite it's simplicity. One thing I like especially is the red LED, which is less noticeable from a distance and great for reading maps or books without distracting others.
This little lamp is great. Twice now it has had huge impact on my trips. Once was a simple 0330 start and one of my buddies say "uh anyone have an extra headlamp?" Extra batteries don't help in that situation, but E+LITE does. The second happened when batteries died in one of our lamps and we could not find the extras in our bags even thought they had made it through the pre-trip check list. I won't go out without this little guy, it is too simple, light and useful to leave behind.
