The ultra-compact ZIPKA PLUS2 headlamp will bring on the light. This petzl headlamp is equipped with the ZIP retractable cord system. This feature allows the Petzl LED Headlamp to be worn on the head or wrist, or attached to any other support, like a tent pole, a bicycle seat post, etc. This headlamp integrates two light sources for versatility: one white, high-output LED and one red LED. The white LED delivers 50 lumens in maximum mode and lights up to 35 meters. In economic mode, it can reach a burn-time of 140 hours. The red LED provides lighting to preserve night vision or to become a blinking light for increased safety, for example in an urban environment, etc. The ZIPKA PLUS2 can be used with lithium batteries to decrease weight or increase performance in cold weather. Petzl Headlamps will allow us to camp on Belle Isle.

"that one time it was really dark out..." 12/03/11
Got this headlamp and was at first skeptical of the zip drawstring wrap-around head-strap thing (i have no idea what to call it). I get it and the first thing i do is try it on to see how it sits on my head. i was amazed. not only is it JUST the right tightness so as not to be painful or be annoying, but it stays on your head all the time. and because when you are wearing a hat or a hood you have to re-lengthen the strap on a normal head strap it is annoying, this thing, you dont have to do it :D. its bright, its light, its easy to use, these are just some clues. all in all i think it is wonderful, i just wish the button was a little easier to press... but thats negligible
"Awesome headlamp" 08/29/11
Another great headlamp from petzl. I love that it's retractable...you can put it on anything in a flash - your bike, your wrist, anything you can get it around. And it's way comfortable, lightweight, plenty bright and a breeze to change the batteries.
"Great around "camp"" 03/12/11
This headlamp is super bright maybe a little too bright when playing games of beer pong on a camp table(but who care it is shining in your opponents eyes). The red light works great at night in the tent if you don't want to disturb others. Works even better with with the core lithium ion battery no need to constantly buy AAAs.
"A really great headlamp" 02/08/11
This headlamp is awesome. Bright, really bright, with an option for a red light for at the camp site. I recommend this headlamp for any hikes, or even for changing a flat tire on a night ride. Heck, even use it to read in bed! its a light, dummy!
"Good Headlamp" 01/25/11
It is a good headlamp. It is super small and doesnt take up any room. It is very bright and it has a good battery life. The only downside is that you cant change the anglr of the light but other than that it is a good product.
"Super Bright and Handy" 01/15/11
I got one of these in July for a camping trip in the BWCA. It is super bright, it DOES resist water (in the rain at least) and has proven super handy when packed in a purse. It doesn't snarl the hair when putting it on or taking it off. I like the settings too. The red is super handy when you're trying to find something in the dark without waking someone else up and instantly blinding them. I'm buying another one for my mom.
"Great for Bright Light While Walking....Bad for Reading While Laying Down" 08/25/10
I love the retractable headband that really DOESN'T get stuck in your hair if you pay attention to the way you put it on. I love that it has a really bright light that you can use when you need it. The fixed direction of the light is a little annoying when you are trying to read at night in your tent. You have to almost find a great position and then fix the light to something in your tent to get it just right. All-in-All a great purchase. Plus when I dropped it in the puddle in the bottom of my canoe it still worked. I have not "submerged" it in water but it works well enough!
"IPX4???" 07/30/10
Seriously poorly constructed headlamp. There is no way that this will meet the IPX4 requirements claimed as it is no-where-near splash proof. My 6 year old Princeton Tec headlamp with a cracked case is more water-resistant than this. Think about it, lost at night in the rain...you really want your headlamp working! The zip works better than expected but Petzl has lost a customer forever...they've clearly gone the way of TNF and Eddie Bauer.
"Great Headlamp" 05/12/10
These little head lamps are great. I like how they are nice and small to throw in your pack. I love that I can just put them anywhere.. on my head, on my wrist, on my water bottle, on my leg, on my tent post.. great!! The red light is a nice addition too for doing some night hiking without wanting to sacrifice your night vision! You have to be a little cautious though because they don't stay on your head as tight as the band ones do. Also, I have pretty long hair and they tend to get a little caught in it sometimes, but it's no problem with a hat on! It's worth it.
"So many uses" 03/13/10
The mechanism that retracts the two lines is actually really strong so if you use this as a headlamp, it comfortably stays situated. It will attach just about anywhere you like. I use is on my body armor and simply pull it out when I need to and once I let it go it reels neatly back into place. It has a great white light red light feature that lets you alternate by holding down the button. Great for military or for camping.
"A great ultralight choice" 12/28/09
I like this headlamp. It is small, relatively cheap, and very lightweight. The retractable wire headband allows you to wrap it around your wrist, bike handlebars, a branch, or anything else. It is pretty comfortable on my head and stays on pretty well. The downsides are that it isn’t as bright as some and it isn’t adjustable up and down or side to side. But I think it is bright enough and it shines at a pretty good angle. You can kind of adjust it by moving it up and down your forehead. At around 2 ounces, it is a great choice.
