"Solid rope, especially for the price" 01/17/13
This rope is smooth! It screams through belay devices, making it a blast to rappel with. Being 10.1mm, it is a bit heavy so I would recommend this for those sport climbing close to their campsite/car. Other than the weight, a great purchase!
"Awesome Rope, love it so far...." 12/13/12
Bought this rope to split with a buddy as a gym rope. I know it is probably more suitable as a craig rope, but since we were splitting it I wanted something nice. So far, it has been awesome. Although it is a 10.1 it still runs through my GriGri like butta! I was hoping that getting a 10.1 instead of a 9.8 would make it last for a long time being a gym rope (pending I don't take it outside). I have caught few falls on it too with both the ATC and my GriGri... so far so good. Hasn't really gotten tangled yet and when it starts to, it untangles easily. I have the bright green one... Probably one of the best looking ropes at the gym.
"My favorite rope of all" 09/23/12
The 10.1 feels more slender than even smaller ropes, and it feels great in the hands. It is a smooth, slick rope which is perfect for me because, weighing in at 120, I struggle on rappels with other ropes. The Xion runs easily and smoothly through my ATC. (I can see how this might make rappels extraordinarily fast for those that weigh more). Though great for rappelling, I've no problem with lock offs on belay. I have climbed on sandstone, granite, besalt, Rhyolite... Never had any problem with wear. I do love my Xion.
"*Update*" 07/30/12
I posted a review earlier about this rope. After having used it for about 10 trips, I would like to go back and mention my that the sheath of this rope wears very easily. Running over moderately sharp edges the rope has done more than just fuzzed out, it has wore substantially into the sheath in several spots. So much so that I had to cut off about 10 feet of the rope where their was a lot of damage to the sheath. I inspected the core fibers where the sheath was damaged and they were still completely intact so I believe the damage was cosmetic but compared to the other two ropes I have it wears very easily. I think this is due to how supple the rope is.
"Great rope, but the sheeth is very slick" 06/16/12
I just bought this rope about 6 months ago and love the feel and durability. My only complain is that it is very slick, making repelling a hand-burning event (without gloves). It is so fast that I can completely lock off when repelling and I still slide down the rope. This is because it is a "dry rope", but the advantage is that the dry rope withstands moisture and dirt better. If you are looking for a good standard rope for lots of climbing in wet places like the NW this one is great.
"Awesome rope would definitely recommend." 05/23/12
Hardly feels like a 10.1, I have a 9.9 and they feel like the same diameter. The rope is beautiful and works superbly. I use the rope for all around climbing, it's a good middle ground between a workhorse rope and an onsight rope.
"BUY IT!" 05/14/12
The XION is the toughest all-around rope and is definitely my favorite rope. The 10.1 mm diameter is extra durable and the weave is specially designed to feel similar to that of thinner ropes. The XION has 22% more sheath by weight than comparable ropes in the Petzl lineup. The XION is great for those who want the increased longevity of a larger-diameter rope without sacrificing ease of handling. i have put two to the test and my third one is on the way.
"Great handling and highly reviewed" 05/13/12
I did a lot of time shopping for a rope. I obsess about gear and want to get the best bang for my buck. It came down to two choices for me. The Sterling Marathon Pro and the Xion. Both have great reviews but I leaned more to the excellent experience I have had with all of my Petzl gear and color choice. The Sterling Marathon Pro's color choices were colors that I have found to really show the grey stain of top-roping through aluminum biners. I love the Petzl rope colors. You can't go wrong with either the blue or green.
"All Purpose Rope" 02/25/12
Wish I could post this for all people to see who are looking for a climbing rope.I really wanted a euro rope for the light weight. And the Sterling Nino 9.2 had my eye, however a lot of the trips I go on have people who top rope instead of lead or trad climbing. So I needed an all purpose ropeI am very satisfied with the Petzl Xion. It's only a 10.1, so its not too much of a fatty. Has a great color and is very durable. I've been using it for ab a year now and it has a good amount of life left before I'll retire it.Always do the free shipping. Moosejaw nearly always gets your product to you in a short amount of time
