The William Ball Lock Carabiner by Petzl has a wide pear shape and large size opening to facilitate belaying with a Munter hitch and allows anchoring of several ropes and slings while rappelling down the side of a skyscraper. The carabiner’s Keylock system helps prevent snagging of the device during maneuvers while climbing or caving. The ball lock design allows for this 'biner to be used as a primary locking system used with belay devices, Munter hitches and even double ropes. The action to release the lock is quick and easy and can be done with one hand, just push the ball on the sleeve and twist, then release and it locks automatically. Could it get any simpler?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes a bit to get the hang of, but worth it! This biner is lighter than it looks for its size, but looks so damn cool. The twist lock with the button is a little awkward at first but if you just hold it and mess with it nonstop when your watching tv or something it becomes quick and effortless. Plus you know it will stay unlike many screw locks after climbing for a bit. I am thinking about getting another one but may hold off a little while until I need it. Mainly climb in the gym and use it to belay, until Im outdoors I think one will do. Get one, everyone will be jealous! :D

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and Easy I have got to say, out of all the biners I've own or used over the years, this is the quickest and easiest one I've seen. The Ball-Lock is great! Only having to twist about 25 degrees, rather then the 45 on any other twist lock, means I can get it open even at odd angle where I don't have an ideal grip. Making it super easy to get on and off belay. Plus the simplicity of just having to visually check for a green dot to know that the gate is locked is a real turn on for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Love Locker! You, your rack, and your rope will love this biner. Petzel has some of the best gear on the planet! This biner is lightweight, easy to use, and super secure. I use mine while repelling and also with a gri-gri. The button must be pushed in before you can even turn the lock and I've never had an issue with it coming loose while ascending, descending or while on belay. At under 20 bucks for this locker it will warm your climbing soul with love!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great large, locking carabiner I was a little surprised at how large and heavy this carabiner was when I got it. It will be great, though, for tieing in to a top rope or using for a munter hitch belay. Bottom line is that if you need a large carabiner, this is great, but if you are just looking for a general purpose locking carabiners for climbing, you might prefer the Mammut Element carabiner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big roomy biner. A little difficult to open. Nice auto lock Locking biners don't get much bigger. I got some to be my anchor points at belay stations. You can fit a whole lot of things in these biners. The only drawback is it takes a little practice to open them. Normal locking biners are easier to open. However, the trade off is worth it to be able to let it go and let it snap in place and have it auto lock.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Up to you... Personally, I find it finicky and annoying...and buying it was probably a mistake. I also have the screwgate William, which I prefer. It may be a little safer, but it's also harder to open, and mine has gotten jammed. That said, if you prefer the tiny bit of safety it may offer, go right ahead!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from can't get any better this biner is fast and easy to use. i love the ball lock and it has worked great and stood up to dozens of campers over the summer. it's is also very distracting.. when i bought it i got nothing done for the next two days because i was playing with it..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best carabiner I own This is my A-team carabiner. I use it for belaying with either my grigri or an atc. It's super easy to use and super secure. Also, it has a neat little fingerprint on it which I'm sad to say, is not mine...I checked...also, its really lightweight too
