"Feature packed and reliable!" 03/01/12
This is a great headlamp by a reliable company. Very bright on the boost mode and ample brightness in the other modes as well. It is nice to have the different diffuser lens colors in case you want to swap applications from woods to sea etc...
"Amazing! Great battery life, durable, simple, and versatile" 12/06/11
I have been using this for over three years. I take it backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing, biking...come to think of it, I try to always have it with me whenever I am out and about. Although it is not as bright as some others I have tried, for its weight, durability, battery life, and all the simple yet useful features it has I cannot complain. It has a rubber o-ring protecting the battery pack which I always find very comforting while using it in a rain storm or in the snow while snowshoeing. I think the colored lens covers are nice but I never use any of them but the red one. It can go bright enough to let you know what is coming and dim enough to read with.
"Dependable and Long Battery Life" 08/08/11
This has been a great headlight for years. There are brighter ones out now with a little more battery life, but this one still does a great job.Pros:I love the boost buttonConsoccasional accidentally turning on inside my pack without realizing it and draining batteryonly a spot for 1 accessory lens cover on the bandthe extras lenses are easy to loose since you don't carry them all togetherthe battery back is a little difficult to get to
"Amazing head lamp!!!" 03/07/11
I love this headlamp, I have owned 4 so far of various models and usually Black Diamond. So this being my first Petzl, I am very pleased, great multi-brightness settings, love the night vision option with the changeable slide lenses, and batteries are still going strong.Great lamp!
"It's a phenomenal headlamp, but..." 11/07/10
I own this thing and love it. It's super bright, it's ultra durable and it lasts forever... so what's not to like? The red filter isn't dark enough for true tactical use (a word of advice for those in the military). If this doesn't matter to you, then there's nothing stopping you. Just buy it, you won't be disappointed. If it does matter to you, then I think you'll find that it's just too strong of a light. I just wish they made the red filter darker. Otherwise, the lamp is strong enough to light a room, tent, or an engine compartment. I'm serious. This thing is so bright you could see it from space.
"The original hands-free device" 06/16/10
Another great petzl product. For military types or people who just like to play army in the woods the red light capability for this headlamp is excellent. All you have to do is slide the lens over and it locks in place. Good battery life (3 AAA batteries). I use mine pretty regularly and it performs just as well now as it did out of the box.
"Great all around hed lamp" 10/11/09
Have been using this head lamp for over 3 years. Also use it all 4 season with no issues at all. Big fan of the wide angle and spot light feature, have used it hiking long distances at night as well as finding my way back to the tent after a late night privy visit. Have been happy with the overall life of the batteries and find myself changing them when the red indicator appears. I also like how it blinks to tell me that I am running low on power. If you are looking for a great all around head lamp that is not to expensive but really good this is the lamp to have.

"Great Product" 06/30/09
Got this primarily for hunting. Hands free lighting is unbelievably better than walking into the woods in the dark trying to carry a flashlight in addition to a gun and any other gear you have with you. It's expensive for a headlamp, and I probably would not have paid the full price for this -- only bought this one because I had a 'buy one item - get 2nd for half off' deal. I also have the Petzl Tikka Plus headlamp too which is nearly half the cost and lighter. They're both great for hunting, camping, grilling, if the power goes out, etc. I think Petzl's are a good value, but I think the cheaper models would suit for pretty much any use you need.
"If my car has two why shouldn't I have one." 04/26/09
I used to think these where were goofy when I would see a whole family walking down the road with flashlights on their heads. That was until I owned one, these things are great. The glory of having a beam of light shining out from your forehead! I wish I was born with one built in.
"This headlamp will meet all your lighting needs!" 10/20/08
Whether your in your garage tinkering on the jeep (as I am!) or out on the trail getting into your campsite late at night, soaked to the bone, this headlamp from Petzl will serve you well. It was recommended to me by a special forces friend, and I cant say enough good things about it. The three brightness settings are all useful, and the "overpowering 2nd sun" momentary setting is incredibly bright. 120 hours on the lowest setting, and uses standard AAA batteries, you can't go wrong. I leave my other flashlights at home, this headlamp does it all and then some!
