"Love flip up red filter" 02/23/12
I love the red filter to flip up instead of cycling through the bright plain LED options to get to red (like my old crappy one had). Also love that after a short time one click of the button turns off the light, again, instead of cycling through any of the varying options of brightness/flashing. Once it arrived I had to get my lady one as her jealousy may have turned problematic.
"The best headlamp for the money, period." 11/29/11
You should buy this headlamp. It's super tough, provides a lot of light, and will last a long long time on just 3 AAA batteries. I had the camo version and lost it, so I bought the super-stealth all black version, that's how much I like this headlamp. The red filter is easy to flip up, and prevents you from blinding your friends walking up the trail at night. Unless you're doing some serious mountaineering or some other extreme pursuit, you're not going to need more than this light can give you. A must-have.
"Great Brand - Great Buy" 10/13/11
Got it for night running...but it has so many more uses. Crazy, but the red light is perfect for changing diapers and feeding my baby at night so she goes back to sleep SO much easier. Also red light works for clipping her baby fingernails while she's sleeping. Yes this thing could be a baby gift! And the red flipdown is great when you are looking for stuff in camp and in tent so you don't wake anyone with bright light. My husband also uses it for work around the house that requires light but where he prefers to be hands-free (cause he gets mad at me when I get distracted when holding a flashlight and let the beam wander at a critical point). So it could be a wedding gift as well...
"Good little light" 05/06/11
This is my go-to headlamp for just about everything. It's bright enough to light up a trail at night, and can be dimmed to shed a little bit of light inside the tent when you need it. Can't say as though I've found a use for the strobe except maybe inducing seizures, but the flip-down red lens is handy for red light readable maps without having to drag out the flashlight and change lenses.
"Handy Little Light" 01/30/11
This has slowly become my primary camping/hiking light. It was the first headlamp that perfectly balanced weight and output. I've used it for everything from trailing a deer to changing a tire. It isn't waterproof but its held up to kayaking and light rain. The only problem is the strap stinks if you sweat, but that's just a side effect of how much I've used it over the past few years. For the price, size, and power there's no reason to ever go into the backcountry without one of these little babies.
"Pilot must have. oh and great for general darkness avoidance." 12/11/10
I use this on my night flights and pre-flights at night. the white is great to see the aircraft in detail and the red is great during flight. the adjustable brightness is great I fly with it on low and it is just enough light. the strobe function is also great if you have to ditch somewhere.
"Look No Further" 04/28/10
This is the best headlamp I've used thus far. I couldn't be happier. It's light weight, and very comfortable to wear. Battery life is great. Don't expect it to light up your entire campsite but to get around, follow trail, and in your tent it's WONDERFUL. The flip down red diffuser is easy to use and great for saving your night eyesight.I've been very happy with petzl products. Buy with confidence.
"Best damn head lamp I've ever owned" 12/14/09
I've had this headlamp for 5 years now, and its gone on 2 deployments, 5 TDY's, and countless search and rescue missions with me, its never let me down and holds up tough under the worst conditions. The 3 different settings are great for all different situations. The red filter works good for when you need to keep your night vision, or if you don't want to disturb your roommates at night while your reading.
"Great bright lamp, great features" 09/16/09
I bought this for the 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell climbing comp at the end of this month. Obviously I haven't been able to try it at the comp yet, but I've tried it around here, and it seems amazing. 3 different brightnesses, the red filter is easy to find when it's on your head, the thing rotates a few degrees if you wanna aim it down some (good for looking at stuff on the ground when you don't wanna point your face down, e.g. hiking at night) bright focused light that's good for up close stuff (night climbing).
"best headlight out there, have used it in the jungle and in the desert, buy two" 09/01/09
great light, petzl sets the standard in headlights, tough as a nail and around for a long time, battery life is great, buy two, you always need a back up for anything important and seeing in the dark hands free is vital....just buy it for God's sake....
