"Works great." 12/17/10
I got this lightweight badboy today. I got this for my B.O.B bag and do believe its just what the doctor ordered. Lightweight, small, and works with the same type of batteries everything else i have uses. Perfect for dark clandestine missions late at night to steal cookies from the jar without hindering my cookie stealing hand. Gotta love it. Petzl rocks.<|:OP
"Great light!" 10/25/09
I just got back from a weekend backpacking trip with my girlfriend. This light was perfect. We first used it to play cards when the sun went down and then to hurriedly pack up EVERYTHING and haul a$$ back to the car in pitch black night when a creepy hunter came through our campsite and we heard a owl kill something outside of our tent! The Petzl Tactikka saved two beginner backpackers from a night of terror in the Yellow River State Forest! It then started to rain, so we were glad we left!
"A good, basic headlamp with the red filter option." 01/15/08
This is your basic on/off white light with a red filter flip down option. It works just as advertised and if I were to buy again, I'd buy the Plus version of this model - as it has other light options like high/dim.

I'm on my second Tactikka start note these headlamps will not work after you drive over them with a truck end note and it is an awesome product. The headlamp is very light and a the beam is consistant and bright. I use the red lense often and it work great. The batteries seem to last forever. I changed my batteries 3x while in Iraq for a year and it was used every day.

I bought 2 of these lights for me and my girlfriend. They are a big step up from the cheapies we used to have. They are much lighter and built much tougher. The flip down red lense really helps with keeping your night vision and is less intrusive when used inside the tent. They really work well. Thanks to Moosejaw for such a great price and the free shipping!!
"damn useful" 04/26/06
I'm in the ROTC program and this thing has come in real handy a couple of times (esp. the red-light lens). So useful, in fact, that I order a second one within a week of losing my first one (which I had for seven months w/o changing the battery) in the field.
