Petzl Spirit Straight Carabiner

The Spirit Straight Carabiner by Petzl is a lightweight carabiner that is perfect for the anchor end of a quickdraw for multi-pitch climbing or mountaineering. This carabiner was anodized for better corrosion resistance and a Keylock system for a snag-free body and gate interface. Its straight and to the point and its made by Petzl, so I’m pretty sure it’s a good choice.

What's there to be said? Get this Carabiner. In fact get many. They work well... as a Carabiner should. Spring gate flawlessly smooth in operation. Excellent quality for the money. What else do you want??? Stop wavering and put a bunch in your cart. Don't hesitate.

"Little Pricey" 02/08/12

I wasn't overly impressed by this carabiner. It was a little bit pricey and performs as well as many of the cheaper carabiners. But thanks to MooseJaw it only cost me shipping and handling so it was worth a shot. For what I actually paid these are carabiners.

"Durable but way too heavy" 01/09/12

Petzl makes solid gear and these are no exception, but compared to the competition they're way too heavy. They have a snag-free nose which a must IMO, especially at this price, but I'll spend a couple bucks more on WC Heliums to cut 16g (a 32% weight cut) any day. Spirits may be slightly more durable but I can't justify the weight tradeoff, especially on a trad rack. These are durable biners and I can see why people like them but I doubt I'll buy any more unless Petzl can seriously cut some weight.

"Good Biner" 08/16/11

It's always good to have an extra little biner on your harness. Good for little odds and ends like chalk bags, quick draws etc. Easy to work one-handed.

"Worth the money" 04/24/11

This carabiner has has many uses, ive used it to climb ledges, or to clip stuff to my bag. For a Casual Climb this is GREAT! Its amazingly strong and has no problem holding my weight. The quality is definetly there!

"Worth the money!!!" 11/02/10

If you've ever cleaned a super travers-y or overhanging route, you know what a pain it is to unclip draws on rappel while hanging desperately onto that crappy clipping hold (or the rope). These biners slide in and out of bolts like... well... use your imagination. I bought these with some BD freewires (you can find them on sale for 8$ if you try) and used them to replace the top biner on the draw. Thus you have a 25-30$ draw configuration for about 18$- saves you upwards of 50$ if you're putting together a rack.

"Awesome beaner" 07/06/10

I use this beaner for everything from clipping things to my belt or climbing. Its amazingly strong and has no problem holding ropes for climbing. one of my personal favs.

"The best carabiner on the market!" 04/25/08

This is the best carabiner on the market! The action on this carabiner is so smooth. The carabiner feels quite at home in your hand. I love the notches on the gate. I bought this carabiner in both the straight and bent gate to update my quickdraws and trad rack.
