"Great Product for TR Solo Climbing!" 10/23/11

This shunt is almost like a 65 dollar climbing partner if you know how to use it. I use this all the time for roped soloing as i dont normally have a climbing partner at the crag. Weigh down the bottom of the rope and it will automatically feed as you climb and catch you if you fall(provided you DONT GRAB the shunt during a fall). No teeth on the roller so no damage to your rope. Always use a back up prussik, just in case. LOVE my petzl shunt

"Overall Great Product" 07/22/11

Works great for me when Rope Soloing as long as you dont grab the housing in case of a fall. Will feed basically effortlessly if you weigh down the bottom of the rope. Been using this for a few months with only a Prussik knot as a back up. Works great for me!

Bought this as a top rope solo device. As long as you weight the rope it works great. Because it doesn't have teeth there is no danger of shearing one's rope sheath off. It also, of course, can be used as a rappel back up or an ascender.

"Awesome back up rappel device." 06/10/08

This thing rocks for doing long rappels as a back up device. I just did a canyon with a 350' single line rappel in two stages, without this device, it would be quite possible that I would have discovered if the stopper knots work. It also was useful in ascending a line. Highly recommended for long spider line rappels.
