The Quark Ice Tool by Petzl. The QUARK is a versatile ice axe, designed primarily for technical mountaineering and for ice climbing. Because of the head's modular construction, it adapts to any situation. The QUARK is easy to use: its balance and its ICE pick allow solid placements on any type of ice. Hooking is more efficient, thanks to the clearance under the head and to the shape of the pick. The GRIPREST and the TRIGREST hand rest ensure a comfortable, powerful grip adapted to leashless climbing.

"Great Alpine Ice Tools"  01/30/12

These are great light weight ice tools. Perfect for alpine climbs that include ice pitches. They perform well on water ice, but for ease of use could use bit of extra weight on the pick.

Love how light and versatile these tools are. I have smaller hands and for the grip diameter is perfect and the adjustability of everything is just awesome. Great tool around!

I love how lightweight it is and I can feel the swing is more stable than the Black Diamond's viper! Love the Nomic head that Petzl has improved on this new quark!

"Fantastic design... WOW Index finger guard!"  10/04/10

Basically, best tool eve. I noticed a few things I liked about the new Quark. First off... You can actually spin a carabiner through the slot on the bottom. You don't know how cool this feature is until you actually need to. The trigger like index finger guard, is such a great idea. It gives me un-matched dexterity on ice. The feeling of being secure in your tools is so solid with this. I mainly climb waterfall ice with these axes, and I can honestly say, that the curve on the shaft is in the perfect spot. No more breaking fingers sir... No more.
