The Owall Carabiner by Petzl is a straight gate symmetric carabiner that is designed for aid climbing. The carabiners oval shape prevents dreaded shifting when you're aided on sketchy placements. The Owall is great for racking because it was designed so gear doesn't bunch together. The snag-free keylock gate allows you to on-clip your previous hook placement without bumping it off the ledge. This device's oval shape facilitates use with a pulley and is easy to flip over making it ideal for pitons or etriers.

"Excellent Product" 10/08/09
This biner is a step above other ovals. It is solid and smooth. Love the keylock feature, allows easy acces to gear stowed on it. I use it as part of my aid setup and they work slick. They are worth the little extra you have to pay over the other manufacturers. Go ahead, you know you want to... try them, I'm buying more....

I use these for both top roping and slacklining. Their shape is perfect for setting up a slackline and cause good friction between the webbing. They feel really solid and safe as well when used for climbing.
"Great, but a little too shiney" 06/12/06
I'm a big fan of the keylock gate. I keep my shoes and chalk bag on it and it doesn't snag at all. The biner is, however, extremely shiney to the point of distraction. Not a problem for most, but those who tend to stray off might find themselves staring at the glint in the biner instead of their climber.

In todays market this is an intreresting product thats probobly overlooked by the vast majority of climbers. these days we are all looking for the lightest wiregates money can buy, and we are fortunate that petzl remebers how important a regular oval can be. In the owal Petzl has sought to create the ultimate oval and has suceeded on many fronts. though a creative user will find many perfect uses for this gem, its obvious the Owal is designed to accell at one task, the critical conection between aiders/daisys and your aid piece.<BR><BR>As far as i know, the Owall is the only keylock oval carabiner thats commonly avilable in the US market. as if this wasn't enough, the large size, solid c
