"The Petzl Nomad climbing rope is very aptly named - if you wander into the shop while on your perennial rambling and are headed towards mountains, this is the rope for you. The Nomad is fully dry treated (core and sheath), so you're not going to get it dirty even when you're drifting from town to town, or hopping onto a freight train, and it works well on sandy or dirty rock faces too. Another great feature is that this rope is ready to climb on right out of the shop, and for sure won't bunch up on your first climb. I highly recommend this Petzl rope!"
Andy - Partridge Creek Moosejaw
The Nomad 9.8 Rope by Petzl is a durable rope with a thick sheath, providing superior handling and a well-tuned balance between dynamic elongation and impact force making this a perfect all-around rope. This climbing rope was designed where the sheaths make up at least 33% of the total weight of the rope, translating into superior core protection while you continuously abuse it on multiple pitches of gritty sandstone or granite. The Duratec treatment involves treating the core and outer layer, providing a long-lasting protection from wetness and freezing. The smooth handling Nomad climbing rope is packaged in a "climb ready" coil to eliminate the arduous task of uncoiling the rope the first time. Gosh, what a great concept, its like those toys that say "assembly required" except this is like the total opposite.

"Great! I regret not buying the 70m..." 12/13/11
Its awesome, fits with both grigri 1 and 2 very well.. also smooth feeling with atc, I have gotten it wet and it is no biggie, just let it dry indoors.. It does not get fat that easy with use than other ropes...
"Best suited for general alpinism" 10/23/11
Is the second time i bought this rope i bought the 60 meters rope and now I'm buying the 70 mts. one, I have use it in Ouray for ice climbing where the conditions are very icey in glaciar walking in the sierra madre mountains in Mexico and in Potrero el chico, Mexico which has very dry conditions with very sharpy edges. The belaying it is awsome beacue its a very friendly rope to handle, it is the best single rope for doing general alpinism but if you are going just to glaciar hiking it is a very thick model i would consider using other model l between 8mm to 9mm
"I LOVE my Petzl Nomad!" 10/04/11
I have had this rope for more than 2 years now. It has served me well on a regular basis since then. Its light, long, beautiful color as well, and is definitely my rope of choice when I go out climbing on our beautiful and abundant sandstone. I have also used it with my Grigri and had no issues at all with the rope diameter being what it is. Buy this rope!
"Great rope" 09/11/11
This rope is a great balance between durability and weight. I've used it for sport and ice climbing (have access to twin ropes for trad so usually use those) and it's been great for both uses. The dry treatment has done well in some wet pitches and it's provided a comfortable catch in a number of sport falls. Definitely worth the money.
"don't leave home without it" 07/23/11
had this rope now for a few months now and took it out in the heat of the texas flat lands. good feel slightly stiff so clipping in to the draw seems effortlessly when your weak hand goes dead on you and doesn't want to respond to your will and desires of living to the next pitch. best part of the rope is the marked part in the middle of rope so you just how much rope is left between you and certain death. in the end rope is rope but if you want to live to the top, you will get this rope and be glad you spent the extra cash for it.
"great rope" 06/21/11
was very skeptical about purchasing a petzl rope at first but it has done great. very good amount of stretch have only used it a few times on lead routes but a ton of times for top roping overall great buy for a first rope,
"The best rope there is!" 05/18/11
I had the 60m and it just finally got a core shot. This was after years of some serious whippers down in the Red River Gorge and it definitely lasted far beyond any of my friends' ropes experiencing the same abuse. The nomad is definitely worth the money in the long run. Also, the 9.8 works well in a grigri and using an ATC guide-Bigger ropes are a lot more difficult to use in guide mode.
"RESPECT THE NOMAD!" 04/25/11
This is a fantastic rope! I am in the process of buying my third one! I've had the other two for two years now and they are still crankin out big walls and big falls! Its a perfect size at 9.8 and is super dynamic! it stretched out perfectly on its first big catch and from then on it had great support! Buy!!!
"Works Great!" 01/03/11
I like the big middle mark, its very visible which is super handy. The rope is silky though the belay devices so belaying is easy and it clips great. Only had it on a few climbs but the coat has held up great so far. Its my favorite rope i've owned.
"I own three Nomads" 12/30/10
I own two 60m and one 70m Nomads. The feel, weight, performance and colour of these ropes are brilliant. They feed through belay devices easily, are relatively light (even the 70M) and are easy on the hands. The middle rope marker is very useful when rapping off, or setting up a top rope for someone. The 15 foot markers at the rope ends saved me from a 15 foot drop...I was very grateful to Petzl for this! I primarily use my Nomads for multipitch climbs as I have a couple other monsters for the top-rope abuse.
