The Mini Traxion by Petzl is a compact and lightweight self-jamming pulley. The Mini Traxion is a 3-in-1 multi-purpose device (pulley, self jamming pulley, rope clamp). Self-jamming pulleys effectively replace the traditional hauling combination of a pulley and a rope clamp. Since they are simple and quick to install, they are ideal for rescue situations (in crevasse or climbing rescue).

"must have for aid and rope solo"  10/18/10

perfect as a backup for jugging fixed lines. better than a grigri cause you can put it on, or escape from, a weighted rope. also is the best pulley block for hauling. super light. bottom line, if you aid climb you need this.

"Self belay partner!"  07/03/10

I use this mostly for top rope soloing and it works great. If feeds relatively well and seems strong. I've taken some big falls with it and no damage to the rope or device. It catches well on the rope and I feel confident using just one without a backup for most climbs. This or a basic ascender are probably the best options for rope soloing on a fixed line. Can't wait to use it for some light hauling and as a lightweight ascender.

"Nice for Top Rop Self-Belay"  10/16/09

After using a couple of different methods for top-rope self-belay, I settled on using the mini-traxion. Works great. I use two in tandem and backed up seperately, so I feel really secure. Weight the rope at the bottom and no worries.

"Sexy"  06/24/08

Have been using this pully a bit and it works great so far. The brake is easy to use and its easy to open etc. It also looks pretty cool. My climbing partner got a std BD model and its not nearly as sexy. Friction seems pretty good.

It may cost a pretty penny, but well worth it. Great for every day needs when on the mountainlike pullin your buddy up to the top.

"Brilliant device!"  07/16/07

A centerpiece of any hauling system. Works great with the Ascension or as a simple pulley.
