Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool, Snug and Comfortable What a helmet. Vents closed during early morning climbs and open as the day heats up. Take the time to adjust the webbing around your ears. When cinching the helmet down all you have to do is pull the rear adjustment down and it tightens right up. It fits so snug yet so comfortable it's as though the helmet one with your head. Speaking of the chin strap, easy to tighten and loosen. I haven't needed to wear a headlamp with it yet but it sure is nice to know that I can. Ease of use and comfort aside, this is a sweet looking helmet. I got the blue one and not only have I gotten several compliments on it, it's also easy to spot me in those photos where I'm just a dot on the wall. Climb on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, durable This is a pretty solid helmet. In cold weather it adjusts well over a skull cap and is plenty warm with the vents closed. Headlamp use is easy. It's difficult to adjust one handed, especially with gloves, but it doesn't need much tinkering. This wouldn't be my choice for a warm weather, big wall helmet as there are lighter and cooler options. But this is my go-to mountaineering helmet and it's comfortable enough that it's on my head all day long. Fortunately I haven't had to really test it against impact. But it's strong enough to use as a seat in the snow during dinner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It doesn't get any better than this! Petzl makes the best helmets in the industry IMHO. Great fit, super fast and easy to adjust the headband size by just turning the adjustment wheel a few clicks in either direction to tighten it up or loosen it up.,,,,Tip: If your head size falls in-between the 2 sizes - get the larger size - you won't be sorry. Especially if you ice climb them you will have extra room to bear a balaclava for winter underneath the helmet as well. And - Petzl offers a optional clear visor that you can mount yourself for ice climbing to protect your eyes from ice chips and flying ice!,,,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My significant other: reliable, practical, good-lookin', and easy to get along with. I LOVE this helmet! It fits like a dream and feels very reliable. I had borrowed and worn one of these on a number of climbing trips, so I'm thrilled to finally own one. I personally had no trouble adjusting the straps. I think I might even prefer the tightening system for adjusting the crown on this helmet over the dial-type found on other helmets (though I do like the dial-type). I can still easily adjust it one-handed, plus it just makes me feel happier. I love how practical and versatile this helmet is, with its close-able air vents and headlamp compatibility. My next big mountaineering trip still isn't for awhile, but meanwhile my lovely helmet will sit in a prominent place in my room, inciting daydreams of a higher calling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight and durable for a good price I've had this helmet for a few years and I have been very happy with it. The adjustable fit makes it easy to re-size for hats, and it's light enough that I can wear it all day without it being uncomfortable. Compared to some of the new foam helmets like the Meteor III it is very durable; you can stuff it in the bottom of a pack, knock it around, and it's no problem. The buckle will sometimes let slack out on its own and I'll have to tighten it back up, but that's a pretty minor annoyance. Basically, the Elios is a pretty cheap way to stay safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Dependable Dome Protection I purchased this helmet for a durable piece for a successful sumit bid on Longs Peak in Rockey Mt Nat Park in August. It did a wonderful job, was comfortable, stayed in place well, and took all the beating and banging from the 37 miles of backpacking in the park before the sumit bid. I really like this versions removable soft pads that are alot more comfortable then the last version of this helmet and can be washed, because lets face it after hours of mountaineering or climbing they will become manky....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and comfy - Adults, buy size 2 Don't get size 1 unless you're a kid, an oompa loompa, or a really tiny adult (this goes by head size, not mental age either). Ordered a size 2 in smurfette blue and am satisfied with its performance for wilderness SAR work, including some light climbing and technical rescue (but you;ll probably want something sturdier if you'll be doing caving or heavy rescue work). It is also great for not smacking my head on branches while bushwhacking at night through mazes of rhododendron-laden boulder-fields. My Petzl headlamp fits into the slots neatly. Very comfortable even after wearing for hours and it is easily adjustable. Biggest con: due to how light it is you might forget you're wearing it and get laughed at for having it on at the bar after training/climbing/masochistic bushwhacking/whatever else you're using it for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best helmet on the market in its price range With so many helmets on the market and so many variables to go along, purchasing a helmet can be a daunting task. In search of my first helmet for leading, I came across this little gem from Petzl and figured I'd give it a try... and boy am I glad I did!,,,,This helmet may not provide all the fancy bells and whistles that come along with other helmets, but at this reasonable price point, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal for your dollar.
