The MYO RXP Headlamp by Petzl is the first Petal headlamp that is regulated and programmable, allowing the user to choose the order of lighting levels and to precisely adapt light output. To do this, there are three lighting modes, for each of which the user can select the power from among ten possible levels, from 8 to 140 lumens. This feature allows the lamp to be programmed for the type of activity and the length of use. Maximum power lighting would be suited for a short night run, for example; less powerful lighting would help preserve battery life and would therefore be ideal for a multi-day trek. This headlamp has Boost mode (160 lumens) and a flashing mode that can be programmed. It is compatible with lithium batteries to optimize performance, even at low temperatures. The Wide Angle lens offers the option of switching instantly from a focused beam to a wide beam when necessary.

"Good light."

This is my forth petzl headlamp and I love them all. This one is super bright and has a cool option to pre-set different levels, but I do feel that it is a little over priced.

"A little pricey, but overall a great buy"
          10/13/09
I would definitely recommend this product. It's bright, has great battery life when used on the lower settings and it's very comfortable. I read a previous review before I bought this which recommended making the first setting the lowest and I have to second that recommendation. You'll avoid blinding your friends, and be more apt to leaving it at that lower setting until you really need the extra light.

"I can see clearly now!!!"

This headlamp is by far the brightest, most intuitive, and not to mention comfortable headlamp I have ever used. It is a little pricey, but the extra money you will spend is well worth it in my humble opinion.

"Nice Bright Light!"
          08/22/09
This light is great for all applications because it has the 3 different levels of light. And then the emergency strobe if you happen to need it. This last winter it was well used on the local ski hill. If someone wanted to go backcountry skiing they would come find me so they could borrow the light. It definetely is very bright as I could sit on top of the mountain and look across to the next peak and see the light moving around for whoever was daring enough to climb the mountain in the dark. I do suggest being careful where you are pointing the light as it was bright enough to provide temporary blindness.

"A little pricey but worth it for a great Petzl product"
          04/06/09
This headlamp comes with a manual similar to that of a new watch, it's a little more involved than just ON/OFF...keep in mind this is a PROGRAMMABLE headlamp. It is very easy to use, however, and once you establish your settings, you may never have to bother with programming it again. One hint to increase feng shui is to set the "1 click" setting to the lowest power setting you want and the "3 click" setting to the brightest, Petzl's factory setting is the reverse. Your tent partner probably doesn't want a super bright flash when you turn this thing on clicking your way to the low light mode, having the lower light setting on the first click mitigates this. Cheers, CE
