"Comfortable and Lightweight!" 03/18/12
When outdoor climbing you should ALWAYS wear a helmet. Don't be one of those people who keep on making excuses not to wear one. This helmet does nothing that everyone seem s to complain that helmets do. It is comfortable, lightweight, and does not restrict your eye sight at all.
"I'd wear it around town if I could...well I guess I can." 01/15/12
This is the best helmet that I have used climbing. Key features: Lots of adjustment, lots of ventilation, plastic piece on end of nylon so you don't lose the clip, fits over a hat for those cold days, secure headlamp "clips".I've walked back to my car wearing this because I forgot it was on, that is how comfortable it is.
"Comfortable brain bucket" 01/03/12
Many climbers make excuses to not wear helmets: no one else is, their are uncomfortable, they are not fashionable, they restrict movement, they cost money, whatever dumb excuse they can come up with. Don't be one of them. I personally believe that my life is important than that, and you should too.Now that I'm off my soapbox, this helmet is great! Because of the design it practically sits above your head which means it is comfortable and allows your head to breathe. The straps are highly adjustable so you don't cut off your ears or dig into your chin. I give it a plus plus.
"I like it a lot." 12/13/11
Picked one of these up a few months ago when my mom expressed her concern over me climbing without a helmet. I was happy to discover that it didn't get in the way during climbing, and I usually end up belaying my second with it still on because I forget it's there. Great product Petzl!
"Great Helmet" 12/07/11
This seems to be the most popular helmet, and for many reasons: it fits great, the straps adjust well and are in the right places, it's lightweight, and it's priced right. You can't ask for anything more- if you do you're just selfish :)
"Great helmet for the avid climber" 11/12/11
Picked this up after using other people's spares. Fits great and the chin strap isn't annoying like on most helmets I've worn. Only thing is make sure you adjust it properly before use so you don't end up having it fall off mid climb.
"Nice for caving, okay for climbing. Best when covered in stickers." 11/08/11
I've used this helmet for caving and now rock climbing quite a bit. It's super durable and adjusts well. The headlamp retention notch-thingies work will with my Petzl and my Black Diamond headlamps. This helmet will do a good job of protecting from rockfall, bonking your head on cave walls/ceilings, that kind of stuff, but be warned that hard-shell helmets like this are not the best for protecting your head when *its* the thing that's moving fast, like in a lead fall where the rope is caught on your ankle. Solution: don't get the rope behind your ankle!
"Lightweight" 11/06/11
Despite its lightweight the helmet is very durable. The compact design makes the helmet fit very close to the sides of you head. This is great when you're trying to put a hood over the top of it, but doesn't provide as much protection from bashing your head from the side. That being said, this helmet has been on sport climbing trips, trad, and winter mountaineering. Comfortable and worth the money.
"Classic climbing/mountaineering helmet" 10/23/11
I have used this and also the BD Half Dome. In my opinion, the Petzl Elios sits better on my head (7 1/4') and feels lighter as well. A comfy helmet with good solid protection that doesnt cost a bomb.
