The Duobelt LED 5 Headlamp by Petzl is a hybrid headlamp: halogen / 5 LED with remote battery pack. This feature reduces the weight carried on the head and improves comfort. The front of the headlamp has two light sources: LEDs for proximity lighting to ensure ample battery life, and a halogen bulb for distance lighting. The light body can be easily directed with one hand.

"Mad props to the designers at Petzl" 10/18/05
I had the old duobelt before they designed it with the leds. I used it for rescue work and it was the best headlamp I had ever used or owned. And I had a few. All broken now. But the DuoBelt 5 has improved on the older model. The hard plastic case for the batteries is the best part because the old fabric case didn't protect the battery tray and that eventuallty broke. This new case seems totally bomb proof. The DuoBelt 5 is the best heavy duty headlamp out there.
