The Petzl Duobelt LED 14 Headlamp. The DUOBELT LED 14 headlamp has a remote battery pack. This feature allows large capacity batteries to be used without affecting comfort on the head. The headlamp has a hybrid light source that can be directed: the first is equipped with LEDs for proximity lighting with ample burn time, and the second usesa halogen bulb for powerful, focused lighting. The user has three regulated LED lighting levels available to adapt the light to different situations. Lighting automatically switches to reserve power mode when the batteries become weak.

Very good light coming from this well built Petzl headlamp. Not too sure about how easy it will be to use switch on/off to the lamp when using heavy duty gloves.

"very high speed low drag equipment here...." 02/28/07

Brightest LED array Ive seen switching between low and high on it is a bit tricky at first. This is what you need for cold damp conditions. water proof to 5 meters and seperate battery compartment. Well made unit.........

"Buy one! (or two)" 02/22/07

This is my second Petzl "belt" headlamp, and its great! Was in Vermont recently, and used it in below zero conditions (actual temperature, not wind chill). Nice to be able to keep the battery pack warm, and not hanging off the back of your head...

"If you spent significant time outside in the dark this is the headlamp to have!" 01/31/07

Best headlamp I have ever owned and I've owned and worn out my share each winter! Great durability for winter use in very cold climates. Battery pack fits into most winter coat pockets and has the option of clipping or mounting to a belt. <BR>Finally a headlamp without buttons which require you to remove your gloves! The on/off and zoom switches are easy to use, especially when on the move behind 8 screaming sled dogs while attempting navigating the frozen trails of Northern Canada!
