They're good enough; there's nothing better! They're pretty soft so they don't reduce dexterity and keep you from feeling the rope. They're also pretty thick such that they protect you from the cold and are very durable. I used them regularly (every weekend) climbing at Yosemite last summer on multipitch climbs. They broke in after about two days of use because they started out soft anyway. There's not an equal product out there. Metolius' belay gloves (I own a pair) never broke in; the leather is rigid and too thick. Black Diamond's belay gloves (a friend owns one) are too thin and are not durable.

Fits like a glove!I bought those to do wood work while camping/backpacking but occasionally used them to move heavy things as well as for climbing. They are very comfortable and fit true to size.
Dexterity is clearly present when using them, since the meshy top allows for free range of motion while protecting you from the bottom.
