The Bug Pack by Petzl was designed specifically for multi pitch, long routes that are done in a single day. Its rounded rectangular shape maximizes volume and minimizes interference while in use. The volume of the Bug is ideal for carrying gear on the approach and when climbing (hydration system, guidebook/topo, clothing, shoes, etc). Everything has been designed for maximum comfort while climbing with the Bug on the back: minimal bulk, shoulder straps allowing freedom of arm movement, comfortable and ventilated back panel, foldaway waist belt, high positioning allows access to back of harness(for chalk bag, gear) and lateral compression straps.
FEATURES of the Petzl Bug Pack

Best day trad packBeen using this for a month now and really like it. Good fit, size and durability along with simple thought out features. Fabric holds up to abuse well and it rides above your harness. For trad climbs this pack will hold, approach shoes, water, lunch and layers but don't expect to put your rack in there. After a modification you can easily clip your rope underneath but unless you make it a micro coil it will hit the back of your legs and catch on loose rocks so be careful.

Awesome Day-Climbing Pack! This pack is amazing as a day pack for climbing, and has become my go-to choice for both multi-pitch alpine routes as a leader/follower pack, as well as for a day of sport or trad cragging. I purchased this pack after realizing how awesome it was while out alpine climbing this past summer (my partner had this pack, while I was using a less-functional, less awesome competitor's pack). I couldn't ask for a better design or more perfect/competitively priced pack. It has a spot for a hydration bladder with a tube whole/cinch holder on the shoulder strap, a line of numerous daisy chains down the front outside of the pack (which I use to strap shoes, water bottles, etc., either for convenience or when I have more gear than the pack holds), a zippered inner pouch/key clip, functional and/lightweight compression straps, awesome adjustable shoulder straps, etc. etc. My favorite feature, though, is definitely the rope carrying straps, which allow carrying a coiled rope securely & comfortably!

Great bag for summit day.Got this bag as a good day climbing bag or for multi day climbs as a summit bag. Not super large, but serves it's purpose well. The fit is great.
