I wanted a great rain jacket for London. I just received it, much sooner than expected (thinking I should have just gone with the free shipping). My issue with the jacket is more about color. I bought the Leaden Blue - and even though I know things don't always look the same online as they do in person - I was surprised by how "off" the color is. Online, it looks like a slate blue. In person, more of a dusty light blue. Not bright, but not greyish. Disappointed with color. I bought a medium because I wanted to be sure it fit hips. Knew that the sleeves and shoulders might be big. I am a small person. The jacket is not generous in fit at all. That being said, I still may keep it. Looks very high quality and got terrific reviews. Just wish the color was more in keeping with my expectations.
I've only had this jacket for about a week now but it's already been successful in keeping me completely dry while walking around a rainy college campus. I'm 5'4" 125 pounds and I got a medium because I wanted to be able to layer underneath, I probably could have gotten away with a small but the medium isn't bad. My only complaint is that it is a little noisy but still a great jacket for bad weather.
I love this jacket!! I'm a college student and do a lot of walking around an extremely humid and often rainy campus. The zipable venting slits are incredibly convenient! This jacket has kept me dry on the rainiest days.
"Great jacket, but I only have one criticism..."
I love this jacket. I bought it in the Aloe Green color which is beautiful, bright and basically the best shade of green ever. I ordered a small in this jacket, but I wish I had ordered a medium. I'm pretty short, but was also blessed with some curvy hips. I'm 5'0" and about 130, normally wear a small or medium, depending on the garment. This jacket simply doesn't fit around my womanly curves. There is plenty of room in the arms and up top to layer, but the jacket is cut super straight. Otherwise, the ability to compact this piece into the pocket is awesome for camping, hiking or even treks on college campus. But my biggest piece of advice is if you are also blessed with some hips and curves, think about going up a size if you want the jacket to cover your bum-bum.
I bought this jacket a year or so ago in anticipation of taking it with me when I hike part of the AT this spring. I've had plenty of time to wear it and try it out and I love it! It fits great, the arm vents are awesome if you're a little toasty from hiking around or whatever. I actually wear this jacket into my office pretty often and everyone is hella jealous of it. I bought it in white, even though I was a little afraid it would get dirty really quickly, but it cleans up nicely. I can be a little tough on my hiking clothing and this jacket really holds up. Great product.
This jacket lives up to it's name, in a torrential downpour you will be dry. Love the arm vent holes (they open with a zipper) so I don't become a sauna when vigorously walking the dog in the rain.My only criticism: it's cut very straight through to the hip, so for those of us with, ahem, larger hip regions, might want to get a larger size than normal, so it covers the tushie when zipped up.
The jacket is everything that you could want in a mid-line rain jacket. It has plenty of pockets and does a great job at keeping you dry. I've had mine for a few years and I've used it quite a bit on various excursions, as well as day-to-day life in the drizzly weather. The H2No technology isn't as durable as GoreTex, and I'm starting to notice that my jacket isn't keeping me as dry as it once did. However, the price point is much lower than a comparable GoreTex gear, and if you plan to use this jacket only on occasion for years to come, this jacket is for you.
"Get one for yourself and your mom and your sister and your boss."
This jacket is great. Super water repellant, hood cinches to keep you dry. The jacket is light and easy to pack away (i keep mine in my commuter bag). This is easy to pack for long back packing trips and has made several trips with me since I bought mine. Get one.
This is the first Patagonia rain jacket I've owned, and I love it. I've worn it for my bike commute on a couple of rainy days, and it's kept me nice and dry. Hood stays up well in the wind; jacket keeps the rain off without making me too hot. The pit zips are great for when I get nice and warmed up. And like most Patagonia clothes, I love that the sleeves are long enough for my crazy monkey arms.
The Torrentshell is a great option for light weight rain gear. It provides full coverage with breathability with the pit zips which some brands no longer offer. It can also be stowed in its front pocket for compact storage size that is great to keep on your pack or keep in the car.
I bought this rain jacket after having multiple wet and rainy walks to classes on campus. This jacket has kept me dry every time even in pouring rain. I also really like the zipper arm vents in the jacket. These really help when it is a little warmer out. Overall, this is a great jacket and I would highly recommend it!
