The Patagonia Women’s Down Sweater is actually not a sweater at all. It’s actually a super warm insulated jacket. Those crazy Patagonia Outerwear folks must be losing their minds. At least they are good at making premium 800-fill-power goose down insulated women’s jackets. I wonder if calling it a down sweater when its actually a Superlight, windproof and water-resistant shell is false advertising? Someone should call Patagonia out. It could be a showdown. There could be gunslingers involved. No real guns though, just water pistols.
Super Important Note - Some of the Patagonia Down Sweaters for Fall 2011 are made with non-recycled fabric. If you receive a non-recycled version of a Down Sweater, the fabric color may vary slightly from the images seen here. Sorry about all of it, and please don't hate us.

This is a great layer for under a shell while heli skiing or back country skiing, its also great casually, you can dress it up, i like the black...i wear it with black skinny jeans when going out but i also wear it with flannels. or with an under layer...its adapts to lots of temps and can pack up small for backpacking. its kind of nice to have no hood...so under a shell you don't have 2 hoods.
"why does MooseJaw tell the color of the jacket lining?"
I bought this jacket as a gift for my daughter who loves the exterior and the jacket in general. But she NEVER wears PINK and we were shocked to see it has a brilliant pink lining. No wonder it is discontinued.
"Light as a feather and warm as a goose!"
I received the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater as a gift for my birthday. It is honestly the bomb diggity of jackets! It weighs next to nothing yet is crazy warm and snuggly. I have the white color and yes you can see a faint hint of the feathers yet it somehow adds to the look (clean, modern with a touch of nature!) I can't seem to take it off! And as a side note....I have the vest version in green and have always loved it BUTwho knew that adding arms would be doubly divine!
"2014 I went skiing in Breckenridge during Spring Break, I am 75 years old!"
During Spring Brake 2014 as I was trying to tell you I was dressed all wrong! Next spring I will be dressed correctly. The Patagonia Women's Down Sweater is my ticket to success. It is light as a whisper. It is warm enough and wind proof and I look fantastic in a size medium. I am 5' 3" and weight 143 lbs. It had been 15 years since I last skied. What I wore a few weeks ago was much too heavy and weighed me down. Had a nasty fall and had to be taken down the mountain by the sky patrol. This will not happen next spring because I will be wearing my beautiful Patagonia Women's Sweater. I love it so much I have ordered another one. Dorian Aronson 07-02-1939
It fits great! I have lived in this coat this winter! Super warm, light weight, great fit! I am 5'4" and the length is great. The arms are long but I love that bc the thing that I hate about some coats are the sleeves being too short.
I love this jacket for the warmth. It works great as under a shell during hikes and snowboarding. You don't need to layer up to much. It's easy to pack and dries quickly. Here are some cons:The fit (wm's medium) - I'm 5'9"...long arms and short torso. The arm length is a bit short for me. If I select a bigger size, the jacket would huge in the torso. I believe Patagonia has streamed away from producing athletic cut jackets, which is terrible. I'm selling this jacket to a friend (5'6"), who fits it perfectly. I just purchased the Mountain Hardware "Ghost Whisper" hooded jacket. The ghost whisper is perfect for tall athletic built people.
Gals, the second I opened the package I put the coat on, and continued to sit there with it on in my pajamas and watch TV. Testing out it's "sweaty" levels. It was so nice just to set there and wear it indoors. So comfortable. I wore it outside in subzero temperatures today and although it's about as heavy as a fleece it is 100 times warmer.
This jacket is fantastic. If you're unsure of Patagonia products, stop it because they are the best. This jacket is great for cold winters and is a great layering piece. My biggest debate about purchasing this product was the sizing. I originally ordered a medium because I wanted to be able to layer underneath it. I'm 5'0" tall and I weigh 130 lbs, and the sleeves were too long on me, and even with a sweatshirt on underneath there was still a lot of room in the jacket. It didn't quite fit the way I wanted so I decided to exchange for a small. Also, the Blue Butterfly color is really pretty!
"This is my second one. Lightweigt and wonderfully warm."
I'm 5'2" ~150# with athletic build and size medium fits well. Room for another layer under. Not as windproof as might like in 30+ mph winds, but wonderful under a windproof shell for really cold days and good alone when snowshoeing or hiking in winter. Only complaint? Sleeves are too long for my 5'2' frame. Bought first one 1 year ago and so far, no wear/tear. Very well made. Travel around the world and it's wonderful to throw in the suitcase for unexpected changes in weather since it's so lightweight.
