The Patagonia Women’s Down Sweater is actually not a sweater at all. It’s actually a super warm insulated jacket. Those crazy Patagonia Outerwear folks must be losing their minds. At least they are good at making premium 800-fill-power goose down insulated women’s jackets. I wonder if calling it a down sweater when its actually a Superlight, windproof and water-resistant shell is false advertising? Someone should call Patagonia out. It could be a showdown. There could be gunslingers involved. No real guns though, just water pistols.
Super Important Note - Some of the Patagonia Down Sweaters for Fall 2011 are made with non-recycled fabric. If you receive a non-recycled version of a Down Sweater, the fabric color may vary slightly from the images seen here. Sorry about all of it, and please don't hate us.

I love this jacket for the warmth. It works great as under a shell during hikes and snowboarding. You don't need to layer up to much. It's easy to pack and dries quickly. Here are some cons:The fit (wm's medium) - I'm 5'9"...long arms and short torso. The arm length is a bit short for me. If I select a bigger size, the jacket would huge in the torso. I believe Patagonia has streamed away from producing athletic cut jackets, which is terrible. I'm selling this jacket to a friend (5'6"), who fits it perfectly. I just purchased the Mountain Hardware "Ghost Whisper" hooded jacket. The ghost whisper is perfect for tall athletic built people.
Gals, the second I opened the package I put the coat on, and continued to sit there with it on in my pajamas and watch TV. Testing out it's "sweaty" levels. It was so nice just to set there and wear it indoors. So comfortable. I wore it outside in subzero temperatures today and although it's about as heavy as a fleece it is 100 times warmer.
This jacket is fantastic. If you're unsure of Patagonia products, stop it because they are the best. This jacket is great for cold winters and is a great layering piece. My biggest debate about purchasing this product was the sizing. I originally ordered a medium because I wanted to be able to layer underneath it. I'm 5'0" tall and I weigh 130 lbs, and the sleeves were too long on me, and even with a sweatshirt on underneath there was still a lot of room in the jacket. It didn't quite fit the way I wanted so I decided to exchange for a small. Also, the Blue Butterfly color is really pretty!
"This is my second one. Lightweigt and wonderfully warm."
I'm 5'2" ~150# with athletic build and size medium fits well. Room for another layer under. Not as windproof as might like in 30+ mph winds, but wonderful under a windproof shell for really cold days and good alone when snowshoeing or hiking in winter. Only complaint? Sleeves are too long for my 5'2' frame. Bought first one 1 year ago and so far, no wear/tear. Very well made. Travel around the world and it's wonderful to throw in the suitcase for unexpected changes in weather since it's so lightweight.
I got this jacket in Nickel for christmas. The color is beautiful and it fits really well. I'm a swimmer so some items are too tight on my shoulders, but this item fit me well I'm 5'8", 150lbs and the medium is small enough to be flattering but warm enough to layer a fleece underneath for the freezing mornings. It is slightly longer in the back than in the front, but I like that because it makes it comfortable when sitting down. The sleeves are long enough to cover part of my hands without being too long and getting in the way of my fingers. The hand warmers make your hand feel like they are next to a fireplace (in the best way possible). Overall very warm and wearable. It's great for cold mornings because if it warms up during the day you can easily pack it into a tiny tiny pack. It creates a bubble of heat around you that is delightfully warm. Definitely recommend this jacket.
"Super lightweight and packable down jacket for my girlie that looks great on her"
Bought this jacket for my girl for Christmas, she lit up brighter than the tree when she opened the box. Runs a little bigger through the torso that the R2 fleece I also got her in a medium this year. The nickle is a good color (can't have black with our golden retriever) and the pink lining is pretty snazzy. As always, high quality construction, stitching, and style of Pataguchie gear. She's going to try on a small and may end up exchanging for the smaller size if it fits better. Intended use is staying warm in Central California (low 40's), but she can't wait to get it up to Tahoe and show it off in some real cold weather with some layers. Very happy with the purchase, I want one.
When looking for down jackets, I was super picky. This jacket really stood out to me, as many of my male friends have purchased Patagonia jackets and love them. This was my first one personally and the specs on it seemed to fit what I wanted, so I gave it a shot. The second I put it on I knew my friends were right about this brands jackets. Even when the weather outside was below freezing, this jacket kept me nice and warm with a shell. I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs and a small fits nicely. It's a little shorter than I'd like, but a medium would swallow me. My only real gripe about it was that I ordered the Nickel color and received pink. However, it's almost like Moosejaw read my mind, because I just didn't have the guts to order that color. It's definitely what I wanted and more.
This is my favorite Patagonia jacket I've owned so far, and I have quite a few. It's light weight and tailored to fit a woman's body (I am 5' 7" 140 lbs and the medium fits great.) Also, do to it's compactability, it fits into a tiny stuff sack for easy storage. Sometimes I wish I had gotten the one with the hood, but the pockets are big enough to keep a cap in so that works, too. Overall, I'm beyond thrilled with my purchase!
I was a little worried how thin this jacket felt, HOWEVER, WHAT a surprise, it is so WARMI EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TESTING IT OUT FIRST I wore the coat with the receipt on it to make sure I loved it!!!! And I do !!!
