The first thing I thought when I saw the Patagonia Women's Prow Jacket was: "cool". I work in a jacket-heavy industry so it's rare that I see a product and have that kind of reaction. This is a very unique 600 fill down insulating layer that emphasizes style without sacrificing performance. The style is obvious, but I'll touch on the performance a little. The shell is 100% nylon plain weave fabric with a Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) finish that sheds rain/snow and protects the super warm goose down insulation. The collar is adjustable and closes with snaps. The benefit of an offset zipper (besides the appearance) is that, when layering, if you have multiple zippered layers they won't overlap; this means less rigidity and fewer cold spots. Stay warm and stay "cool".

I bought this in the fall, hoping to get a down jacket that would be good for hiking/trail running and nice enough looking to wear around town. JACKPOT. It works great for hiking/backpacking/general outdoor adventuring. It's super warm, but not bulky so you don't feel like a marshmallow (always a plus). The cut is flattering, but there is enough room to layer under it. Yesterday I wore a pretty bulky Patagonia fleece under it because it's like -10 in KC and it was very comfortable. It's also one of the best looking down jackets I've seen. The cut is, as I said, flattering and fits nicely. I have a small waist but wider hips and I usually have a hard time finding a jacket that fits nicely (the struggle, am I right?). This jacket fits me perfectly. The high collar is helpful for blocking the wind but it can lay flat enough to wear a scarf without feeling like you have too much stuff around your neck. One of the best purchases I've ever made.
I bought this in the fall because the only other down jacket I have is one that goes down to my knees. This jacket is the best thing I've bought in a long time. It's SO warm, but it's not bulky at all. I've never gotten over-heated in it, even when the weather has been fairly warm and I probably didn't need to be wearing a down jacket. It's a great jacket for not only hiking but wearing around town. I bought a medium and it fits snugly enough to be flattering, but there is enough room to layer anything, even somewhat bulky fleece, under it. I sometimes have a hard time finding jackets that are small enough around my waist to be flattering, but roomy enough for my hips. This jacket is a perfect fit. The high neck is awesome. It helps block the wind and it looks damn fashionable. I really mulled over this jacket and compared it with Patagonia's other down jackets. I'm really glad I chose this one. I've worn it almost daily this winter.
